The Government and its individual states make an effort to commercialize that distracted driving is bad. Everywhere you go you can find billboards, posters, flyers, and commercials that promote to not text and drive. There are so many campaigns and organizations for the cause. But when it comes to actually making an effort, there is nothing there. Every single day I witness people around me that do not care about the safety of others. They are either on their phones or are interested in anything else but driving.

There are laws in place in a majority of states that were made to hopefully prevent texting and driving, but it seems that the police doesn’t enforce those laws as much as they try to convince us they do. I’ve even seen a cop myself, driving while using a cellphone. I believe that the government needs to put better laws in affect to hopefully lower the numbers of crashes due to distracted driving.

Educating people about the multiple causes and effects of distracted driving is not powerful enough to completely stop people from using any types of handheld devices or other distractions while driving. According to the web source Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 13% of people from the United States actually spend time reading flyers, speeches, articles etc. about the impacts of distracted driving. Clearly, that shows how much the other 87% of people in America care about the causes and effects of distracted driving. Nobody is bothered or willing to learn about distracted driving because…

Recently in 2013, a new law has been passed making texting and driving illegal. This law was approved because of the mass amount of accidents occurring due to the operator of a vehicle texting while driving. I do not believe a Public Service Announcement about this topic will reduce the number of distracted driving related incidents. Other people believe this type of announcement will in fact reduce the number of distracted driving related accidents. Texting isn 't the only type of distracted driving. It can be anything from brushing your hair to talking to a passenger. Even the most common actions like adjusting the air conditioner or radio can distract someone driving.…

In the state of Florida there is a legislation against using a cell phone while driving. The legislation says that while a person is texting while driving a police officer could do nothing unless you are being ticketed or stopped for another infraction. I find this law to be really scary because there are so many careless people who are driving while texting not having a care in the world who they will affect. To me, I consider driving while using the phone the same as driving while under the influence. Not only are you not focused on your driving and the people around you but youre not paying attention which are two things that can easily cause a minor accident or major accident. If a person is texting while driving and they hit someone…

Driving is a privilege, and in many cases this privilege is abused. Some people don’t take driving seriously and this often results in terrible accidents. Other innocent people sadly become victims of this carelessness. The U.S banned several acts that result in accidents such as drinking under the influence. Driving while under the influence was banned because it affects the drivers’ concentration. Doesn’t texting while driving do the same thing? When a driver is texting his/her focus is not on the road and at any moment the driver may lose control of their vehicle. Texting while driving should be banned in every state because it’s a dangerous act; this ban will decrease the amount of accidents caused by this act, and it will provide safety for fellow drivers.…

    Distracted Driving FL

Distracted driving is not only teens but it is adults as well. In the state of Florida there is no ban or law keeping anyone from texting and driving. They tried before for a bill with texting and driving and if convicted they would face up to $250 or to 30 days in jail. This bill did not last very long and today texting and driving has caused more wrecks. While driving, adults and teenagers cannot resist the urge to pick up their cell phone and send a text or respond to one, and as soon as the driver’s eyes meet their cellular device, their focus on the road is drawn away. There should be a law for this because more and more innocent people are losing their lives over someone whom is texting and driving. If we had this law it would help our rates come down and Florida would have safer roads. Of course some opponents feel that creating a law against cell phone use infringes their personal rights. Others think that banning someone from using their cell phones is equivalent to telling someone that they can't adjust their radio or chat with someone else in their car. Which is all reasonable statements but their missing the fact that this is killing the lives of innocent people and must be stopped for the stake of the citizens in Florida.…

Another reason why I disagree with the ban of texting while driving is because it isn’t possible to enforce this. In the article “Cities disagree on texting-driving ban” Ms. Gaff says “they ask ‘How can we enforce this?’” (Swartsell) Police officers will not know when a driver is texting. If banned, officers will just be given another reason to stop people. (Radley) They can’t just assume that drivers that are looking down are texting. This wouldn’t be fair to drivers. It wouldn’t make sense to be stopped based on an assumption an officer makes.…

Texting while driving should be enforced in a stronger law that forbids it because drivers will not ignore the temptation to reply. Many drivers feel that enforcing stronger laws referring to this situation will only make matters worse, which was discussed on debate.org. They feel that it will make matters worse due to their prediction of drivers lowering their phones than normal, which could lead to an increase of car accidents. Although that prediction is possibly an outcome of enforcing stronger laws, this habit cannot be left alone. That feeling and prediction alone does not justify why texting while driving laws should remain the same. We do need stronger laws to ban texting while driving because drivers are not acknowledging other informative approaches. For example, even with numerous articles and many broadcasting commercials on this dangerous habit, drivers continue to text while driving. So if the media, which has always held a strong influence…

The issues of texting and driving have been ongoing for years now. Many people are at fault for being distracted drivers. No matter what age you are, seventeen or thirty-five, being distracted behind the wheel is very dangerous. There is no way to make people stop texting and driving, even if it is illegal, because people do whatever they want to do. Even though texting and driving is both deadly and illegal, people still choose to be distracted by a handheld device, the radio, or something outside of their vehicle. These various distractions can cause severe injuries or death.…

At some point in life everyone receives a phone and also a car; where we earn our freedom to leave our home and explore the world, but with these freedoms we should remember more often that they come with responsibilities. According to the General Cell Phone Statistics; " ...there are over 1.6 million crashes per year and 1 in 4 car accidents in the United states are caused by texting and driving. " My essay is on a common issue that affects every citizen of this nation; distracted driving, but is there enough action from our state government to help prevent the tragic events that happen due to this horrific habit. Our state has many laws and preventions against young adults and everyone else; which helps them to stop driving and texting or…

There are solutions in place to combat this problem, including the 44 states that have passed laws to make texting and driving illegal. We must take the initiative and practice self discipline while behind the wheel. The solution ultimately is left up to each and every one of us, every time we sit behind the…
