My Favorite Dish

Most of us have a certain type of favorite dish, but my favorite dish is seared steak with a garlic glaze. I love this dish because it reminds of that time my cousin told me about it and described it. Ever since he told me I always wanted it to try it. I couldn’t try the dish because he didn’t know the name of it and so I couldn’t try it out in some other restaurant or make it myself. The only way I had to try it was to go where he lives and he lives out of state, I had to wait a few months to taste it. That made me want to try it even more. 2 years ago my dad came home from work with very good news he told my family that we were going to spend Christmas with my family in Bellevue, Washington. When I heard the good news I was so happy I was going to try the dish my cousin was telling me about. I was just counting the days to go, I remember it was December 15 we packed out stuff and went to Washington. The first thing we did was go out to eat and it was in that Restaurant in Bellevue I don’t really remember the name of it I just wanted to try the dish. The restaurant was located between Bellevue and Seattle. In the restaurant we got the got the menu and my cousin pointed at the dish and it was called Seared steak with garlic glaze. I didn’t really want to try it because of the garlic but I waited so long for this dish I had to try it. I got my dish and it looked weird but smelled so good. The garlic along with the spices it had on the glaze smelled so good was making me want to jump for it right away. The steak was hot and cooked well done and was about ½ inch thick had good color to it the glaze was brownish looking. The glaze was covered with garlic cloves I made a weird face when I saw it. I took my first bite and I am not a fan of garlic but I loved it was so good, I said to myself all this wait was worth it that garlic taste mixed with some spices they used made it taste so delicious never have I tasted something like it. After

LongHorn Steak house provides their guests with the finest cuts of beef and other favorites for the not so steak crazed guests. The menu includes; choice chicken breast dishes served with a fresh backed potato, delicious sea food assortments such as lobster or shrimp dishes served with butter based sauces, and of coarse their delectable, juicy, rip, steaks. The price ranges for these dishes are all reasonable with the most expensive dish at $30. There’s a sort of magic in the air when guests receive their first grill scoured steak. The smell is almost uplifting, little bit of garlic, herbs, spices and the smell of a steak grilled to perfection. It tastes better then it smells with its crispy outer and tender inside with a buttery musk after taste. Sauces aren’t needed with steaks like…

Its that smoky tasting flavor of the grilled lamb that will make one's mouth fill up with water just burning with the temptation to take a bite. The stewed vegetables that brightened up in different exotic colors and arranged in a pattern inside a skewer sitting out on a plate in the waiting to eat. Even after all this is fitted in a sandwich, the smell of the barbecue slowly makes its way around the whole room, making the temptation harder to hide. Then taking a bite as the sauce oozes out of the sandwich, tasting every little part of the kebab with every bite; the beefy taste of the grilled lamb, and the roasted taste of the vegetables and the bitter taste of the hummus gush out of the sandwich.…

I will never forget the Christmas when I was 14 years old. The whole day was so wonderful and exciting. We had to wake up and unwrap presents early because my father was working that day so everyone woke up at 5:00 AM. After all the presents were given out, everyone said was saying goodbye to my father and went back to sleep. At 9:00 AM, we had to wake up to clean the house because we have “Christmas Brunch” every other year where my whole family comes to have a meal. My mom has a total of 5 brothers and sisters. And they all came with their families, which included their kids and some of their kids even have children. So, at my house, there was a rough total of about fifty family members for the brunch. The food that we ate on this day was unbelievably and utterly amazing. Most of the types of food that we devoured were Polish and German cultural foods, which are the two major nationalities in my family. There was fried Polish sausage with sautéed onions. They were a perfect combination of saltiness to sweetness. Then there were some sweet and creamy pecan rolls that my grandmother used to make all the time, but unfortunately I could not have one since I am allergic to nuts. Then to top all of those foods, there were all different sorts of pierogi. There were the family favorite potato pierogi, the sweet cheese pierogi, and then there were the blueberry pierogi which are my favorite. Those foods were the three items that we mostly ate at the brunch. All the adults would be either drinking coffee, soda, or some alcoholic beverages and for me my favorite thing to drink: Polish carbonated water.…

Chef Thomas Keller is known very well for his sous-vide cooking techniques. Today we used this technique in the carrots and the beef tenderloin we season them and put them in the bag. It gave the carrots a more vivid color and a concentrated flavor. the macaroni cheese was very interesting technique to have it was very complex making the broth and cooking the poor lobster I felt bad for it, getting killed by savage students, but the outcome was delicious. The almond cake was very moist and delicious in the inside had losts of flavor and it was very good. The strawberries were cooked slowly until the sugar form a syrup and then chilled. Chef Thomas Keller makes his recipes very detailed giving each item its own role in the play.…

We headed into San Francisco early. I was surprised that there wasn’t very much traffic; I guess we were after the morning rush hour. The drive north was almost as pretty as the drive down the coast. California should be “The Natural State”, not Arkansas! Once we made it into the city, we had to cross the Golden Gate Bridge. As we emerged from Golden Gate Park, the goliath appeared before us. We just crossed it both ways, but I was in awe of how big the bridge actually was. I had never appreciated it until I saw it with my own eyes. When we came back into the city, we drove around to many of the different neighborhoods. San Francisco is incredibly diverse. We drove through “Little Japan” and “China Town”, and we parked in North Beach. North Beach is where an established population of people with Italian heritage lives and work, “Little Italy” in any other big city. We were craving some good Italian food, and we definitely found some. The restaurant didn’t have a name on their sign, but we risked it and stopped there to eat. It was authentic Italian food from scratch. They made their own noodles, sauces, bread, and dressings. The dish I had was the best Italian food I’d ever eaten. My dad felt the same way about his dish as well. After our delicious lunch, we decided to drive around the city a little while longer, and then head back to the hotel so we didn’t get stuck in rush hour…

December 19th was the day we left Detroit to head to my aunt's house in Orlando Florida for Christmas. But before we got to Florida we made a couple pit stops on the way. The first stop was wildlife in need in Indiana. That was my birthday gift for my parents. We had tickets for the baby tiger playtime. Which was my favorite thing I've ever done. After that we headed to Nashville Tennessee which ended up being our next stop. We stayed at the Hampton inn in downtown Nashville. The next morning we explored for a few hours then meet up with my sister at their hotel. After we hung out with her for a while, we were back on the road again. Instead of take the Georgia route we took the Alabama route because none of us has ever been to Alabama. I haven't…

My dad suggested we should give a family BBQ so I could say my goodbyes to everyone. At the BBQ, I was happy to see all my family together after being gone for eleven years. With the smell of the hot charcoals burning on the grill to the taste of the homemade savory sweet potato pie made me want to stay a little while longer. At the end of the night as I pack up my suitcase, I thought about the whole trip and I am glad I had this chance to visit all the other people who love and care about me. The day finally came for Mykeasha and me to go back home to California. As my dad was getting all of our luggage together and stacking them sideways in the trunk, I was saying my goodbye to my little sister Milan and I wanted her to have something to remember me by. I gave her one of my favorite necklaces. It was a gold heart with lots of little dimonds in it. She jumped for joy and put it around her neck and gave me a huge hug and kiss. Pulling out of the driveway, I felt ok. I was happy to go back home but I was upset to be leaving New Orleans where all my other family lives. Getting back home I sat to myself thinking about the whole trip and I realize that it was one of the most memorable experiences of a…

I grab a plate and fork and head toward the counter. I grab a spoon of steamy, bacon flavored collard greens, dripping with flavorful juices. I then get a serving of creamy potato salad topped with paprika with egg slices on top. Next,I head towards the ham and turkey. The meat is very tender and has a pineapple topping over it. After this, I slice myself a portion of cornbread that has been perfectly glazed over with butter . Lastly, I dig my spoon into a bowl of macaroni and cheese. The cheese is layered with sharp cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese which completes the dish to perfection. I then get a second plate to go underneath all of this food so it won’t fall from underneath my hands! As I take this plate to my table I am fully…

What I had hoped would be the best Christmas turned out to be one the worst one yet. Less than a week before Christmas in 2007 my father died in a car accident. I hadn’t seen my dad in months because we lived in different cities and two weeks before Christmas break when I finally was going to go visit him I had received a letter in the mail from him. I opened the letter immediately and inside, he wrote about how excited he was to see me and spend time together over break but it was unbeknownst to me that I would actually never see him again.…

    Best Christmas Ever

    • 333 Words
    • 2 Pages

Every year I have a great Christmas spending valuable time with family and friends. This past Christmas was the best I’ve ever had. I received the best unexpected gift ever! It all started when everyone in my family came to my house early Christmas morning for breakfast. After breakfast we started passing out gifts. First, we would usually go in a huge circle and everyone would open one gift at a time. This time was different and very odd to me. My family would let everyone open a gift and would skip me. At first, I wondered why I didn’t get my turn yet, but then, I thought to myself that something was up. After a while, my family let me open some of my gifts so that I wouldn’t suspect anything. Next, my whole family huddled up whispering to each other. I then knew that something wasn’t right which made me get a little angry. After my family’s little huddle, they handed me a card. As I read the card, I come across the words,” You will be going on a 7 day cruise to Mexico!” I stood up screaming to the top of my lungs with enjoyment. I cried happy tears because I never expected to go on a cruise especially without my parents. All of my family members rushed to me and gave me a big hug. My grandmother and I cried together in joy and sadness because she was happy for me but at the same time, she didn’t want to see her oldest grandchild leave the country without her being there with me. Over all, my family gave me some advice on what to do and what not to do while I’m on the cruise. I had a great time on the cruise and got to learn about a different culture from mines. It was a unforgettable experience and I would never forget the best Christmas…
