George W Bush Leadership Qualities
George W. Bush, the son of former President George H.W. Bush and Barbra Bush, was born July 6, 1946, in New Haven, Connecticut. He grew up with a great leader as a father. He was taught many great leadership skills and was brought up with great ideals. From a very young age George W. Bush exhibited leadership qualities. He first attended college at Yale and then Harvard after graduating. These schools are known for being very prestigious and are well recognized. When George was in college he was part of a fraternity. In his pledge members were asked to name the fifty some members. The first few had named no more then ten, but when President Bush was asked he named all fifty. This showed that President Bush has leadership qualities; he was determined …show more content…
Congress. Although he wasn't successful in the general election he did defeat several opponents in the primary ballots. These steps and small successes showed much political potential in George W. Bush. In 1994 President Bush decided to run for another position, Governor of the state of Texas. He won the election becoming the 46th governor of Texas. The then Governor Bush was very well liked throughout the state of Texas. He gained great popularity and the state continued to grow in its prosperity. He was very strict with anti-crime and anti-drug measures. He greatly supported capital punishment. To further please the residents of Texas George W. Bush instituted a large tax-cut. To benefit the working class and get more respect from the more predominant class he instituted welfare laws that required beneficiaries to work. Realizing that the future lay within the hands of the children of the United States he passed many bills promoting larger spending for public schools. Using his leadership skills George W. Bush saw a rapid growing population of Hispanic speaking citizens. To accommodate for this change he approved many bilingual programs that won the hearts of many of the Hispanic population. In his second term as governor George W. Bush declared that he was going to be running for President of the United States. Using his popularity he campaigned in several different states against the then Vice-President Al Gore. George W.
