Most of the students, who came to America, struggle to adopt to a new culture with completely different social values. International Student Council (ISC) was founded in 1984, and since then the organization has helped to many international students to communicate, collaborate, and build friendships with others. ISC is considered as a parent organization for all cultural clubs, international student bodies and any other international communities. The organization is in charge of all events held by international students at Iowa State University. They help other smaller student bodies to extend their popularity across the university. International Week, which took place at ISU in November 10-19, can a good example of how international students build friendships with others. International Food Night was an event were all international students cooked their traditional dishes and shared it with other students across the campus. International Dance Night was an event for students to come together, learn different dances, and simply have fun. International Bazaar Night featured international music, traditional clothes to try on, international and traditional games, and a photo-booth. It offered the chance to meet new people from numerous cultural backgrounds, who taught their languages, dress up other students in their native clothing. In International Game Night students got a chance to play games from different countries. Games ranged from being traditional to modern. It was also a good time to make a new friend and teach others about the games you have learned.
