Transitioning from childhood to adulthood is one of the best and worst transitions of life. The ability of being able to make your own decisions and taking care of yourself creates a thrill but also a sense of fear. I grew up, though, and understood that being an adult isn’t all fun and games. The responsibility, stress, and independence hit me like a freight train during my senior year. However, I’m learning how to manage my time, deal with stress in productive ways, and responsibility with a positive outlook became of utmost importance to…

Personal responsibility does not automatically make me successful, but it can be the driving force for my accomplishments. No one else can make me achieve my goals because I am accountable for the results in my life. This paper will cover personal responsibility and what it means to me, its relationship with college success and strategies for practicing personal responsibility relating to my education.…
The American Dream is to be successful in life and raise a family without having to worry about money, health, or freedom. But what is the most important step to accomplishing that goal, especially in today’s society, being successful in college. Of course, there are examples of people who have become very successful without the need of college, but the easy way to success is by going to college and being personally responsible for your success. It will be a step-by-step process to be successful but if you are more aware of what you need to do to accomplish that goal, the better off you will be in the long run. Personal responsibility means that you acknowledge what it is you want to accomplish in college,…

My future plans were very vague until I had the opportunity to work as an Instructional Assistant at a high school. I have been introduced to a great number of wonderful people whose passion is to teach. They have motivated and inspired me to continue with my education, to focus on my future plans and also taught me that learning is not just for young kids but also for people like me who once started college and for certain reasons could not finish it, therefore, inspiring me to set up new short and long term goals in my life. Now more than ever, the world is connected in various ways, there are more resources and advanced technology that can be used to build an educational plan that will help me to achieve my goals.…
As I once read, “The future doesn’t just drop into our laps…you get the future you…
If one is responsible in their personal life one will be responsible in their college life. “When applied to education, personal responsibility means that students accept the responsibility to study hard and to learn as much as they can in courses that press against the limits of their capacity” (Haskins 2009). Being responsible is something one has to do in their everyday life…
I am not exactly sure what my future path is, but my hope for my life is to be truly successful at whatever I choose to do. I am confident that if I set my mind to it, and put in the time, I can become that…
As you grow older the challenges of life become more significant, and form the path to your future. Some of the smallest decisions made can completely change the future that you hold. Adulthood requires more responsibility for your actions, and more pressure to do the right thing. As adults we must carry the conscience to make responsible decisions, even though that is not always the easy thing to do.…
I was raised with the beliefs that there is an importance of having security in all aspects of life, whether that is financial, physical, or emotional. These were, and still are, the ultimate objectives I have for myself and every action I take and have taken has been formed around this sentiment. My parents taught me that “dreams are the touchstones of our character” and that it is important to dream big while remaining clear on goals and realistic with decisions. On the path to deciding my future, their advice remains with me and assists in establishing myself in the goals that I have set.…
This chapter tends to be full of difficult choices, new surroundings, and plenty of self-reliance. About a year and a half ago, I learned the true meaning of relying on yourself. My mom unexpectedly ended up in the hospital for several days and my younger sister and I were left alone. During that period of time, we were forced to cook our own meals, do our chores without being asked, and comfort each other when we were feeling stressed or sad. It was very difficult dealing with schoolwork, worrying about our mom, and taking care of our home all on our own. But learning to depend on ourselves is a large part of preparing for the future and my sister and I learned that early in life. Gaining an understanding of these lessons was another target I hoped to accomplish before completing high school and I did. Not learning this principle causes people to be less productive and to become oblivious to the value of work. Knowledge, self-discipline and an increased amount of self-worth can be received if you learn to become…
Even though I am responsible right now, we learn this over our lifetime. We will always have responsibilities throughout life no matter what age we are. Our responsibilities change with our age and moving up in life. We always are liable for something if it is picking your toys up off the floor, paying your bills, going to school, or working the rest of your life. I am a ambitious person, I want to be independent. I do not like asking for help or getting help, because I am independent. In order to be independent you have to carry on a lot of…
You expect the best in the future, and you work to achieve it. You believe that the future is something that you can control.…
The future is a verb tense that describes something that has yet to happen, or is to be done in the future. It is used to express something that at some time may exist, but now in the present time does not exist. Nothing in the future is for certain, no one knows what will happen in the future, it has not yet been recorded. It is dark like a cave; you cannot shed light on the future until it is in the present, because it is opaque. It is empty, open for new possibilities. Everything in the future is a variable; it can be affected by the present. The future is our unwritten story, it has yet to become.…
