In 776 B.C, the first Olympic Games occurred in Olympia. The Olympic Games was a part of a religious festival and in honour of the leader of the Greek Gods, Zeus. Only men, boys and unmarried girls were allowed to attend and compete in the games. If a married women was at the Olympic Games, they would be punished expect if they just owned a horse in the chariot race.
