March 15th, 2011 The Worst Job I Ever Had

A year ago, I decided to look for a job. I found some job openings in Queens, and one of them caught my eyes. It was a 99 cent store on Liberty Avenues in Queens. I got the job, and I was a sales clerk. I was so excited and determined to try my best on the new job. I thought that it would be the best job I had in my life. However, it turned out to be the worst. I hated the job for three reasons. First, the job was very hard. There were a lot of heavy deliveries every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I had to carry heavy boxes of over 50 pounds to the store. Then I would clean and organize the shelves before customers arrived. Sometimes, I worked from 8:00 to 2:00 nonstop. I had to skip my lunch. After a 20-minute break, I returned to work until 8:00. I went home hungry and exhausted. Another reason was that the pay was miserable. I was paid $4.50 an hour, $3 lower than the minimum wage. Sometimes, my boss paid me late. For example, I worked from Monday to Saturday, and he should have paid me every Friday. Instead he paid me on Saturday. In addition, I was not paid for my overtime. I made $ 31.50 a day after I paid for the metro card and lunch; I had only $ 20 left. My father was very upset when I told him the situation. He said it was illegal, and my boss was exploiting me. He advised me not to work there.
The last reason was my boss. He was rude to me. He yelled a lot. One time, he yelled at me with profanity in front of the customers. Whenever he needed me to do something, I had to be there right away no matter what I was doing. I felt embarrassed and humiliated. One time, my co-worker put the soda on the wrong shelf and when he saw that he started screaming. I told him it was not me, but he would not listen and threatened to fire me. Lucking back, I realized that working in the store was not bad at all. The experience made me to become a

The worst job I’ve ever had was probably working at Petsmart, in Sand City. I have had a lot of jobs and this made me realize I don’t like working at corporations or in retail. I grew up in the country and have always had jobs doing physical labor either at my parent’s farm, or the surrounding farms. When I first started working at Petsmart I liked it. As time went on I started to see how bad it really was. The management was horrible, I was assigned for a graveyard type job, and no one did anything until the District manager was coming in that week.…

Throughout the past year I have endured several life changing occurances. One of my family members troubled through the treturous stages of cancer and unfortunately has passed at this time. If I have taken anything away from this, it is that family is the most important resource in a persons life. Without those people who tell you that you can, regardless of the circumstances, becoming succesful could be very challenging. After clearing my head, I was able to start thinking of a career choice that would make me enjoy going to work. I encountered an opening at a local CVS/Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician and applied. After being hired, I immediately fell in love with the surroundings, the people, the patient interaction, and the knowledge…

Before working at La Vitas II, I used to work at shop rite as a cashier. Even though a cashier and a waitress are very different, I know I learned a lot from there that I still use today as a waitress. Being a cashier at a super market makes you learn a lot about dealing with people on a day-to-day basis. Not everyone is good at working with the public because people can be very rude and most of the time you can’t say anything back, you just need to smile and work the situation out to make the customer happy.…

When comparing and contrasting Ross and Wal-Mart you can see the difference why I had love for one and hate for another. There were a lot of similarities and lot of differences both stores helped me and introduced me to the business side of life. Despite the positives and negatives at each job I can truly say that I learned at both jobs that even if you do hate your job you can always take it and turn it into the one you…

Before starting my college education, I worked for over 6 years at Mitchell & Ness, a multi-million dollar retail clothing company and store in Philadelphia, extensively in their inventory department. I spent time during the year working with our various warehouse managers to investigate the root cause of inventory adjustments. Working in a position that required attention to detail further taught me ways to improve my problem-solving skills and give me a change to work independently as well as in a team environment. Being able to grow with that company from working on their retail sales floor to their corporate office gave me a full view of the company’s day to day operations and gave me a better perspective on work.…

I had to find a better job quick to support my children and our other finances. Still no lucky finding a new job, I continued to work as a cashier. Every day after school I had to catch the bus to work, my hours were from 2pm until 10pm. After a long day in school and immediately going to work on my feet the entire time, my duties didn’t end once I arrived at home. My twin girls would be waiting for me each night up and alert, with absolutely no idea how tired I was. Many times I also had homework and studying to complete after work…

Being a bus boy for this restaurant was probably the most difficult thing to do. Not only did I have to clean tables off, but I also had to sit people down and get their drinks. The bussers had to constantly walk back and forth through the dining area to make sure people got what they wanted. It got real tiring after a while, especially if you weren’t wearing comfortable shoes. At the end of a long day my feet would be killing me, but I guess it was also my fault for not wearing comfortable shoes. Rush hour was never fun, that’s when we had to really hustle around the restaurant and tend to people other wise we weren’t going to have happy customers. I had to clean tables and get them set just as fast so that the people waiting up front could sit down and usually I would have to clean a table by myself during rush hour because the other bussers were either busy or we didn’t have enough bussers which always made me mad because I would have to do double the work in the same amount of time as if there was another busser helping me. It was very stressful and demanding on me, but in my opinion the worst part of being a busser had to be brining dinner tables up and down the basement stairs when we had big parties come in. The tables were big and heavy and the staircase was super narrow and curved. So when we got to the curve the other busser and me had to lift it over our heads to get around the bend and to make things even more difficult there was always stuff on the steps so we had to make sure we didn’t trip over anything. Then came the door, the most challenging obstacle to get through with the…

I started working at fifteen years old. I have had a few jobs over the past 11 years, but my current place of employment is the worst one I have ever had. I worked in a welding shop for 7 years. I was the shop manager, which was the highest position that you could achieve there. It was time to get a new job, after there was not any more room to grow in my current one. I then got a job working in the plants for Apache Industrial. We get to do a lot of different things which is why I wanted this job. I have had some issues with other jobs in the past, but my this job is the worst one I have ever had.…
