TRAVEL INDUSTRY

TRANSPORT- is a precondition for travel :facilitate mobility and the movement of tourist from their places of origin to their final destination, and back. * Is a fundamental components of tourism industry.
2 Basic approaches have dominated analysis of transport and tourism. 1. Transport for tourism – as a Unitarian or functional act which involves a mode s of travel in moving from origin to destination and for travel in the destination. 2. Transport as tourism – the mode of transport is integral to the overall experience of tourism such as cruising or taking a scenic railway journey.
Forms of transport I. AIR TRAVEL/short haul or long haul flights- II. HIGHWAY – car, car rentals and coaches
Different forms of passenger transport serve the needs of tourist * Express scheduled coach service (domestic and international) * Private hire service for group travel * Packaged tour on coaches * Urban and rural bus services to tourist location * Airport taxi and shuttle services * Excursion, day trip, sight seeing in urban or rural areas. III. ROAD TRANSFER – taxis and mini buses IV. RAIL – metro and intercity .,e.g LRT mrt V. MARINE – cruise and ferries VI. NONMOTORIZE – horseback,cycling,walking, kayak
