Around 8 am on December 7 1941, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes open fired on Pearl Harbor. The battle only took around two hours but it was extremely gruesome for America to have thousands of soldiers dying and many civilians dying. Four days later Japan, Germany and Italy formed an alliance and attacked on America pulling America into the war.
The attack purpose was to keep the U.S. from blocking the Japanese from receiving materials such as steel and aviation fuel. Japan wanted oil from the US but they didn’t get their way so they decided to attack on Pearl Harbor. 2335 American soldiers died, and 2305 more were injured during the attack.

More than 350 Japanese planes attacked 33 American warships. 170 aircraft destroyed and three ships were destroyed and 16 were damaged. 3000 Americans lost their lives 68 of which were civilians. On the Japanese side of the war was 29 aircraft, five midget submarines, and 130 service personnel all of which were killed in the line of duty.
Interesting facts: Pearl Harbor is approximately 20 acres or 15 football fields wide. Every day the USS arizona leaks 9 quarts of fuel and people of hawaii say that the Arizona is still bleeding. There were 24 U.S. battleships in Pearl Harbor that morning. Thirteen of which sunk and were repaired 8 were damaged to badly to repair so they were salvaged to what they could get out of them and then made new ones.
