Why I Became A Leadership Academy
Leadership is a journey of self-development and is important to society by creating order and stability. Companies put the best candidate into these positions to help build their growth and prosperity. To find the best candidate for the leadership position, it is best to know the applicants reason for becoming a member to the leadership academy, how co-workers would feel about the individual applying, and the person’s educational philosophy in early childhood education.
The leadership academy is a program that can help advance my knowledge in skills as a leader and a teacher to help mold the young minds of the children that will come into my care. The leadership academy will help teach me how to coach co-workers to improve their skill set. I hold many abilities of a leader and I am looking to refine the qualities to become a better leader. Both of my parents were high school drop outs. My father suffers from a severe learning disability, dyslexia. He was never properly diagnosed as a child with this disability or given coping techniques to help better set his comprehension skills. This made him dislike school and learning environments. I have seen the struggles and sacrifices my parents made on my behalf. For many years I avoided challenging and daunting tasks in school due to the difficult time I was experiencing while adjusting to the curriculum. As I grew older, I knew I wanted to help make a difference in the transitional period for children. Learning should be fun and enjoyable, not demanding. Children who are in a learning center perform higher, above their peers, when they begin elementary school. Research has shown that children in an early learning environment adjust to new settings better than those who had no prior development (“Early learning,”

    Reading stories my mother was my favorite activity, and I couldn’t wait to learn to read to her – she became the first academic influence in my life. When I began Kindergarten, we found out that I would face some serious challenges. The staff at my first elementary school discovered my dyslexia and “hyperactivity disorder” (the prior clinical title for today’s ADHD) in the first week of initial assessments. Before I started school, my mother made sure I knew my alphabet, my numbers to 100, and my colors.
