The informative speech as its name says it is to inform and it is important to choose a theme to capture the attention of the audience and may feel interested in the topic you are going to develop. In the persuasive speech, it is necessary to ensure that the audience can change their point of view for the one that is being exposed. Actually both the informative and the persuasive speech are part of daily life either at work or at school. It is important to know the differences between an informative discourse and a persuasive discourse and the characteristics that both have that make it different. It is important to point

Living in South Florida presents the opportunity to take part in a variety of water activities, such as fishing, boating, and swimming. But for many residents who aren’t able to swim, the water is a frightening and dangerous place. Despite being surrounded by water, between 50 and 70 percent of children in Florida don’t know how to swim. Those numbers are staggering and tragically this statistic is why more children in Florida die from accidentally drowning than any other state in the nation.…

One of the best days of a mother’s life is when she finds out that she is pregnant. She thinks of, what will my child look like? Or, will this baby be a boy or a girl? What shall we call him? There are so many decisions she will have to make over the coming months. Many mothers have debated about what is the best way to provide nutrition to their new infant. When mothers are looking at nutritional options for their child they have two options, those options breast feeding, or mother’s natural milk or, the synthetic substitute bottle feeding. Bottle-feeding has many benefits however; breastfeeding is the healthiest, most natural way to nourish your infant.…

During this persuasive speech, I once again started out slow (meaning during the introduction), but it eventually progressed and was much more easier to understand compared to the Informal Speech I had previously given. As soon as I had gotten more comfortable, it started to flow much better. My transitions between paragraphs made it clearer for my audience to follow. My points used were difficult to come by, but the goal of the speech to persuade my audience was still there and was still effective. If the points were more clear, the speech would have been better than it allegedly turned out. I do not have much strengths during my speeches, but what I can do to get better is to think of what I am going to say during my speech with the help…

Imagine that you trained all your life for that special moment of playing in your first NHL game. At the beginning of your first shift in the game suddenly another player’s stick comes up and strikes you in the eye. This incident ends your career. This could have been prevented if you wore a visor. I think visors should be mandatory in the NHL in order to improve a player’s safety. Statistics have proven players who wear visors in the NHL play less aggressive. There are many incidents involving sticks and pucks going into player’s faces. A recent incident occurred between Philadelphia’s Chris Pronger and Toronto’s Mikhail Grabovski. Furthermore, two years ago a former NHL player Brad May, Gave a speech supporting the use of visors.…

PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion. There are many factors to PTSD, which affects others in different ways; or example, using video games to keep them occupied, spending money due to the lack of impulse control because of changes in their brain, and even not obtaining another job.…
