Why is it important to the story? 1. How Macbeth is portrayed. 2. News from Ross and Angus

Act I, Scene II

Act I, Scene III

It’s important because it shows that Macbeth is portrayed as a hero.

It’s important because it prompts Macbeth to think of becoming king since one prediction was true.

Reflection
Choose one of the events you added to your graphic organizer and think about why it is an important piece of the plot. Focus on the purpose it serves in the story. Consider how the story would change if that event was altered. Form your ideas into a reflection paragraph of at least five sentences. Make sure to include supporting evidence from the play in your reflection.
I’m going to choose event number 2. It’s an important piece of the plot because it puts the idea for Macbeth to become King. If this hadn’t happened, Macbeth would never have thought of this.

As quoted by American author Ray Bradbury, “plot is no more than footprints left in the snow after your characters have run by on their way to incredible destinations”, a piece of literature is composed from documenting the various actions committed by its characters. Their personas alter from chapter to chapter, scene to scene, as they experience external influences such as other characters, tragedy, profit, etc. Character growth and change is then the focal point of any work as it creates the conflicts which produce the work.…

To take our first example, a compressed and tightly knit plot is an important element in a good story. If the main characters inhabit a believable and interesting situation, it makes readers think. Otherwise they would not read the story, or if they did, the reader might feel an antipathy toward the work. Also, the good story must process the main characters’ conflicts through to a resolution. This gives readers courage that they could accomplish similar feats, or it can widen readers’ viewpoints through an indirect experience. For example, Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s “The Yellow Wallpaper” describes the emotional illness of the main character; thus it arouses readers’ minds, provides an indirect experience, or even gives courage to those who have a family member suffering from a similar emotional illness.…

The climax is where the conflict reaches the high point in the story. The younger waiter intentionally overfills the old man’s glass to make him drunk. Once the old man is drunk the waiter denies him of another drink. Next comes the falling action. This is where readers can see the start of some form of a solution to the conflict and acts as a bridge between the climax and resolution, allowing for a smooth transition.…
