1.2 Explain The Effects Of Sexual Abuse On Children
Sexual abuse- Sexual abuse is when children are forced or persuaded to take part in sexual activities, whether or not thee child is aware of what's happening. Sexual abuse on children can be done in number of different ways for example the child could be touching the adult inappropriately such as encouraging a child to masterbate the adult , themselves could be touched inappropriately such as penetration. The adult could have their genitals exposed and the adult could have pictures of children of a sexual nature.
Signs and symptoms(indicators)- The signs and indicators of sexual abuse are;
Swelling of the penis
Vaginal discharge
Abnormal swelling of the vagina or anus
Sexually transmitted diseases
Blood stain underwear
Bruises or scratches

This could be the parents are under the influence of alcohol when supervising them or they may not be supervising them at all. Neglect is also that the family doesn't provide the physiological needs of the child this can affect their health and development. It may involve a parent or carer failing to provide safe and secure shelter, clothing, failing to protect a child from harm and failure to seek medical advice and treatment also abandoning(leaving) the child on its own while the parents are out drinking or out at work or leaving them in their cot all …show more content…
Behavioural difficulties could be aggression( possibly towards themselves for example head banging and biting), attention seeking could hit another child for attention, lying, tantrums(in children over 5).
Indiscriminately affectionate, may cuddle or sit on a lap of any adult even if they are strangers to him/her

Physical abuse- Physical abuse is when someone such a family member deliberately causes physical harm to a child. It could include the actions of kicking, shaking, hitting(punching), squeezing, burning, scalding, throwing, drowning and attempted suffocation. They could also give the child poisonous substance or inappropriate alcohol or drugs.

Signs and symptoms - The signs and symptoms of physical abuse are;
Bruises (possibly in the shape of a hand)
Cuts and abrasions
A torn frenulum(web of skin inside the upper
