10 Things I Hate About Me Character Analysis
The Differences Between Patrick And Petruchio
What are the differences between Patrick and Petruchio? Throughout the two stories Petruchio and Patrick are completely different taking opposite approaches on Kate. Even though they have the same intentions, which is to have a relationship with her, and reasons in the beginning they have opposite outcomes. In 10 things I Hate About You Patrick eventually falls in love with Kate and in TOTS Petruchio never actually falls in love with Kate only with her money. This difference may be because of the time period change. When TOTS was written women didn’t really have much of a choice in what happened in their life but in 10 Things I Hate About You Kate has that control.
In TOTS Petruchio marries Kate for her money and that's all he ever wants out of it. In 10 things I hate about you Patrick at first just wants money for dating her but eventually comes to find that he actually likes Kate and is falling in love with her. Kate at first feels like Patrick is playing her and doesn’t care for him at all and at first he is but he still wants to get to her and make her fall in love. Patrick doesn’t give up though, he tries over and over until he finds ways to her heart. …show more content…
Petruchio never does anything like what Patrick does. Patrick has to impress her in order to date her petruchio doesn’t have to do anything for Kate, he just has to impress her father for permission which proves to be easy giving him no chance to see the beauty in her. Pertuchio tames Kate so she will do what he says and be more what he wants her to be. Patrick never tames kate if at all only in order for her to love him but either way he over all falls in love with who she really is and always has
