1.1 Explain the sequence and rate of each aspect of development from birth to 19 years
All infants, children and young people follow a basic pattern in development. The rate they develop will vary from child to child. This is because all children are individuals, however knowing what to expect and roughly what age to expect it (milestones) can help us recognize development issues (early recognition is essential). Development is broken down into five section although they are separate, they all interconnect in many ways . I have listed below the 5 development categories and each rate and aspect of development from birth to 19 years olds ( for children and young people with out learning of physical disabilities.)
Physical development, is learning how to master physical movement. Areas of physical development include fine motor skills, gross motor skills and locomotive movements.
Cognitive development, is known as intellectual development.This is one of the biggest development areas, it interconnects with communication and language development.
Communication and language development, this area is about learning to communicate with other and also being able to understand other peoples communications.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development,(PSED) is about building relationships with others and understanding their self.Their are lots of steps such as self awareness, self confidence, relationships, feelings, friendships, caring, behavior and independence. It's strongly linked to cognitive and language development.
Moral development, involves learning to know the difference between right and wrong. This is necessary to make appropriate decisions in life. The development of morality is based on a child's experiences and environment, as well as cognitive, social and emotional development.
0 - 3 years
When a mother to be becomes pregnant, a fetus will develop into a baby. Mums to be are usually pregnant for around 40 weeks. Premature babies might need more time
