Marine Corps Order P1020.34G. This one order clearly explains every uniform regulation the Marine Corps has. It goes into to detail on everything from hair color to boots and utilities. From chevron placement to shaven faces. It not only explains the male uniform regulations, but female uniform regulations as well. In this essay, I will explain go over specifically grooming standards for both male and female marines, why the marine corps has uniform regulations in the first place, and what these uniform regulations mean to me as a lance corporal of marines. Let’s start out with grooming standards. What are they you ask? Well the grooming standards go into specific detail about how marines need to look. Hair has to be neat and closely trimmed. The hair may be clipped at the edges of the side and back and will be evenly graduated all the way around the head, from zero length at the hairline in the lower portion of the head to the upper portion of the head. Hair can not be over three inches in length fully extended on the top portion of the head. Extended hair, not the style of the hair, will determine its proper length. It also states that no male marine No male marine will be required to have his entire hair length shaven to the scalp expect while he is undergoing recruit training or when such action is prescribed by a medical officer. This does not keep a male marine from having his hair clipped or shaved to the scalp if he so desires. As male marines, when we get a haircut is determined by what unit and command you are with, but it is usually once every weekend. That is almost universal in the Marine Corps, but while being deployed, everything changes and you could go a few weeks before getting a haircut. So it just depends on where you are. For females, they do not have to get a haircut once a week like the male marines. But they do still have to keep it looking professional. The order on female Marines’ hair is pretty long. It basically says that when they…

    Nco Creed Essay

Starting with the first sentence in the creed “No one is more professional than I, I am a Noncommissioned Officer, a leader of soldiers.” This is to be said with confidence, authority, and conviction so that whoever is listening, not only believes what you are saying, but also has confidence that the person speaking believes it as well. From the moment you pin on stripes someone somewhere above you has seen the confidence needed to lead soldiers within you. The next few sentences in the creed give backing to the first. It instills in a soldier that being a Noncommissioned officer means something, and you should conduct yourself appropriately, with honor and integrity. “As a Noncommissioned Officer, I realize that I am a member of a time honored corps, which is known as the “Backbone of the Army”. I am proud of the Corps of Noncommissioned Officers and will at all times conduct myself so as to bring credit upon the Corps, the Military Service, and my country regardless of the situation in which I find myself.” Then finally in the last line it states that as a Noncommissioned Officer we are not to let our rank allow us to feel as though we are owed something, quite the opposite actually. We are to be examples to our soldiers, not someone who sends them into the fight without us. We are to lead them, train them, and do all of this because of our leadership ability and experience in the military. “I will not use my…

Fulfill your obligations. Doing your duty means more than carrying out your assigned tasks. Duty means being able to accomplish tasks as part of a team. The work of the U.S. Army is a complex combination of missions, tasks and responsibilities — all in constant motion. Our work entails building one assignment onto another. You fulfill your obligations as a part of your unit every time you resist the temptation to take “shortcuts” that might undermine the integrity of the final product.…

Marching enforced the ideas of mind over body. The emphasis of mind over body would ensure that perfect unity in the unit would be secured. Discipline is the focal point of marching but marching also promotes the enhancement of midshipmen candidate’s physique. This is due to the grueling long hours of marching which enhances ones physical ability. Marching is a key element of traveling, or Δx getting from point alpha to point bravo. As one is able to find the initial velocity and final velocity with the amount of time they perceive with the accounted data they have of the distance they are going, or will travel. This helps with finding the final displacement which in turn will help the Midshipmen Candidate with mental processing’s of the “brain” or mental states. Marching helps break Midshipmen attitudes that they have previously had before coming to NAPS. Marching helps discipline and understand the standing of other units and how important it is to not walk through marching formations during broad daylight. The audacity one must have to walk through a marching platoon of any company. The balls one must have to walk through a marching platoon as if he/she didn’t care of the consequences such as writing a 500 word essay on the Ethics of Marching which the word count was just broken 21 words ago. If these Midshipmen Candidates do not break their attitudes by writing such essays, in the future they will be in serious trouble with bigger authorities such as Chief Clarke, Chief Kennon, and or LT Miniter or CAPT Fielding, which are some of the names that I fear to be in trouble with. Good Day to you and I apologize for my actions taken on…

Attention to detail is one of the most important aspects of a good soldier, a good officer and a good leader. The smallest of details are often the ones that can threaten the success of a mission, and can mean the difference between life and death. Many people can happily go about their lives with no worries about the small aspects of life that those in the military have been trained to observe. The United States military is an established institution with a history that goes back hundreds of years and some of the greatest military minds have developed the means and methods that are still in use today. Every aspect has been considered and every situation has been taken into account. Because of this long process of review and refinement, army regulations are precise, in order to address scenario’s that can and will be encountered in the field. It is especially relevant during tactical operations, where saying one wrong digit in a string of coordinates can mean that a soldier won’t receive medical attention in time, or an air strike accidentally kills dozens of civilians.…
