a) Mean - "mean" is the "average" you're used to, where you add up all the numbers and then divide by the number of numbers.
e.g let’s use 13,18,13,14,13,16,14,21, and 13 as our list of values. The median is the usual average, so:
(13 + 18 + 13 + 14 + 13 + 16 + 14 + 21 + 13) ÷ 9 = 15 b) Median - "median" is the "middle" value in the list of numbers. e.g *the median is the middle value. So I’ll have to rewrite the list in order. 13, 13, 13, 13, 14, 14, 16, 18, 21 The formula in getting the median is (number of values + 1) ÷ 2 so: (9+1) ÷ 2 = 5 Therefore, the median is the 5th number which is 14. c) Mode - "mode" is the value that occurs most often. If no number is repeated, then there is no mode for the list.

Therefore, 13 is the mode. d) Quartile – quartile is divided into two: the lower quartile and the upper quartile. The lower quartile is the middle value of the lower half of the median, while the upper quartile is the middle value of the upper half of the median. E.g arrange the data first in ascending order: 13,13,13,13,14,14,16,18,21. Since the 5th number, which is 14, is the median, then the values 13,13,13, and 13, will be the lower half of the median and the values 14,16,18, and 21 will be the upper half of the median. If you can’t find the lower or upper quartile because the number of values are even, you can use this equation. (Left middle value + right middle value) ÷ 2.
