13 Treasures Michelle Harrison Summary
In the story “13 Treasures” by Michelle Harrison, Tanya decides to lie to a creature in order to escape her room that was suddenly filled up with hair. Her hair is constantly growing as punishment for trying to get into the woods last night. “"These charms are magical," she lied” (Harrison, 207) Tanya decided to lie to the creature with frog like fingers in order to get the scissors to cut herself free. “"Each of them has a special power."” (Harrison, 207) Tanya saw the creature admire her shiny charm bracelet so she decided to lie to him about the charms having powers. Tanya then gave him her least favorite charm, the cauldron that could contain anything that you wished. In the end I support the character’s perspective on little white lies

Cheryl Fahrenholz throughout chapter 3 discusses various laws and acts that govern electronic health records and the principal functions that they provide. I picked five of these terms that I believe are the most important. Case management, Credentialing, informed consent, health record and performance improvement. Case-management is one of the most vital parts of any clinical faciality as it is through these individuals that the goals and livelihood of the patient are heard and responded to with corrective measures. The book describes this as an “ongoing review of clinical care conducted” safeguarding the patient against any treatment that is not in their best care (Fahrenholz, page 78 chapter 3).…

According to Chapter 4, Karen Horney “wanted to become a physician and became the first women to be accepted into medical school” (Chapter 4, pg. 106). Chapter 4 also mentions how, “Karen’s mother supported her decision and desire to want an education even though Karen’s father was against it” (Chapter 4, pg. 106). It appears to me that Karen Horney was a feminist, meaning that she strongly believed that women can be independent, have rights just like men and can be successful just like men. It appears to me that Karen Horney was born in the time-frame to where women did not have the same rights have man, were not independent or able to get successful jobs as men because they were considered a man’s job and women’s job mainly was to be a…

Bonnie Smith does achieve most of the stuff she set out to do in her book such as illuminating the evolution of sexism in western historiography and the varying definitions of masculinity and femininity. To demonstrate her points, Bonnie Smith uses naïve tales of queens and famous ladies of the past to show how women were viewed as superficial and trivial in the past. She uses this to analyse women’s work and to show their amateur status in historical studies. Bonnie Smith used the language of sexuality to show how it became crucial for breakthroughs for women in the study of history and how it helped women to be seen as credible in this field and not just incapable. She encourages thinking about historical practice by applying the gender issues…

Linda Hogan’s poem “Heritage” is an insight into all the things the speaker feels they inherited from their family. As I was reading “Heritage”, I was thinking about my family and everything I inherited from them. This poem made me think not just about the concrete things I inherited like hair color, but also the behaviors and emotions I learned from growing up with family. This poem talks about how the speaker inherited certain traits from his parents, uncle, and grandparents. This made me think of all the things I inherited and learned from all parts of my family.…

Annie Murphy Paul uses several forms of factual evidence from multiple sources. She also uses emotion-laced wordings to get her point across about how important deep reading is. Annie builds her argument by using factual evidence from Raymond Mar and Kieth Oatley, that states that individuals who read fiction often "appear to be better able to understand other people and empathize with them." By using this evidence, it allows the audience to learn one of the many benefits of deep reading. She also uses words such as endangered, preserve, disappearance, and distinctive, to appeal to the audiences emotion by making them feel that if they lose this"significant work of art", "Its disappearance would imperil the intellectual and emotional…

The narrative that I read was call “Grace is Good” by Stephanie. The narrative is about a person who is very impatient and doesn't sound like a very nice person . He does not handle certain situations very well and doesn't really understand the meaning of forgiveness, he apologizes the wrong way, he apologizes by pain sometimes. What the author wants you to see is that some people handle things differently and not as well as others. Meaning you may have to be nicer to these people or show them more “Grace.”…

How would the following errors affect your calculated value of R? Explain your reasoning. If some air accidentally entered the eudiometer when it was transferred to the tall graduated cylinder, then the value of R would increase. This is because in my manipulated gas law equation, R=PVnT, volume is on top, in which if it's value increases, then the value of R will also increase.…

the first time I saw my grandmother braid her hair, I was instantly astonished. The way she maneuvered her hands as she glided the hair between each finger, overlapping each strand of hair onto the next, was so delicate and precise. The finished braid dangled down her back, reaching all the way to her waistline, it reminisced that of a princess, from the storybooks I had seen. I knew only after moments of watching her, this was something I had to accomplish; easier said than done.…
