Motor speed control by SMS from android mobile
Area:
Power Electronic
Problem Statement:
(Need of the project)
Adopting mobile and wireless communication to control systems will greatly benefit the industry. This contribution develops the systematic design methods for the development of a low cost GSM SMS-based Control system for industrial applications over the wireless communication.
Project Description:
Motor speed is control using SMS where user will send a text command contain speed value that desired by user. This text command will be processed and motor speed will be adjusted.
Problem Statement:
Control signal is used to control motor speed and it is basically generate by a control switch that is connected directly to the control circuit. In order to control the motor speed, user need to be at the place where the control switch is located. In this project, speed of motor will be control wirelessly using mobile phone by short message service (SMS)
Project Objective:
1. To design a control system to control speed of motor using SMS.

Project Title:
Motor Speed Control by SMS From Android Mobile
1. Area:

Power Electronic
2. Background:

Nowadays motor is widely use appliance for industrial control, automation and home electrical appliance. It span everything from residential washing machines, fans, hand-held power tools, automotive window lift, traction control system, industrial drives and many more. Motor application is not complete without a control system. The invention of microprocessor and microcontroller make control system become easier. What control systems do is controlling the switch, speed, and direction of motor. Control signal is used to control motor speed and it is basically generate by a control switch that is connected directly to the control circuit. In order to control the motor speed, user need to be at the place where the control switch is located. In this project, speed of motor will be control wirelessly using mobile phone by short message service (SMS). Text message that contain desired speed will be send to the GSM module that connect to the microcontroller on the control circuit. Microcontroller will process the text message from the GSM module and adjust the motor speed based on the speed values that send by user. Controlling motor using SMS is really convenient as the user can be able to control and monitor the motor from everywhere as long as the places have coverage. Moreover, sending text message is nowadays consider very low cost and most of people have their own mobile phones as it already become one of the basic need in life.

3. Objective:

1. To design a control system to control speed of motor using SMS.
4. Methodology:

This project is divided into 3 part, which is understand how DC motor speed is control, how the microcontroller get and process data from GSM module and the last part is programming to combine both. First, research on control DC motor speed is done. After that, simulation will be done by simulation software such as Proteus. After completion of the simulation, a control circuit is build. The next part understands the process and data acquisition of the microcontroller from the GSM module. Research will be done on various research paper available and IEEE library to understand this process. Lastly, a programming on the microcontroller is done using C language. The program will be able to process data from the GSM module and send it to control circuit to adjust the speed of the DC motor. After complete all of this research, a performance test will be done on the project.

As a repressive government is tyrannically allowed to take over the minds of benighted masses, forced sacrifice becomes a tradition that is scarred into the working class, feeling helpless as the dying only find out their sole purpose moments before their undeserving death. “Never Let Me Go” by Kazuo Ishiguro is a dreadful example that clearly indicates what can happen when society distinguishes two classes in complete contrast, specifically the exploited working class and the higher respected guardians who act as the bourgeoisie. The novel is set in during the mid 1990’s in Britain and gruesomely portrays a world in which “humans” are completely stripped of their identity, remaining as a mere number, a duplicate, a nobody, and then left…

Nowadays mobile phone plays the key role in communication in many countries including Malaysia. The rapid growth of the Malaysia Mobile industry has largely been due to the development of a simple and highly popular mode of mobile communication. The SMS (Short Messaging System) Statistics from Communication & Multimedia Malaysia had indicated that over 3,406 million SMS have been sent in the first period of year 2005. It seems like the fifth factor that everyone has to have it. Besides the convenience of usage in anywhere or at any time, the user can also listen to music, play games or surf the internet. Another increasingly popular function is the message services in forms of short message service (SMS) and multi-media service (MMS).…

This sub-system links all the other sub-systems to form the main system. Two power supply units were used to supply the system with power; one for a 12V fan coming from the mains and another for the Raspberry Pi. The main device used in this sub-system for controlling the other devices was the Raspberry Pi. All codes for image processing and audio processing were stored on a microSD card inserted into the Raspberry Pi. A static IP address was set for it which enabled communication with the mobile application through a local Apache server. The GSM/GPRS Module was programmed to send ‘AT’ commands which were used for sending the SMS and locating the device.…
