Part O due at the beginning of tutorials in week X ne: On Monday 4 March, (week2) you are to obtain the following information:


The spot rate for the United States Dollar - USD (you MUST provide hard copy evidence of where this information was obtained)

You will have to decide whether you will enter into a forward exchange contract or not. The value of the contract is as per the product you are selling below (listed in Part 2)
You are to give your group’s work to your tutor who will sign this and return to you immediately. This is just to confirm what you have decided to do.

Part Two: Beginning of tutorial in week X+4
Your company (AUSEX Pty Ltd) has decided that it will begin exporting to Malaysia. You have heard about the benefits of preferential duty treatment for Australian goods under the Malaysia-Australia Free Trade Agreement
(MAFTA). You need to investigate any possible rewards (lower duty rates) that MAFTA may offer as appropriate. The products you will export are (prices shown on an EXW basis):
a) Australian calendars x 1000, each at AUD 8.75. Packed in outer boxes of 10 calendars, 20 boxes per pallet. Gross weight per outer box = 100 kg. Measurement = 0.20 m3
b) Australian desk calendar x 5,000, each pack at AUD 3.50. Packed in inner boxes of 50 calendars. 20
Inner boxes per outer box. Gross weight per outer box = 20 kg. Measurement = 0.05 m3
You are to complete the necessary documentation to enable the importer to complete border clearance processes in Malaysia and you must also complete a Certificate of Origin (from the exporter’s point of view) for the above
products.
