One Important Voyage.
The important voyage across the ocean. In 1513 Vasco Nunez de Balboa a spanish explorer and conquistador became the first European to see the Pacific Ocean. He was born in Spain in 1475. Balboa joined an expedition to South America. After exploring the coast of South America present day Colombia, Balboa stayed on the island of Hispaniola.

He got into debt and fled to San Sebastian. Once he got there he realized that most of the civilians had been killed by native people and convinced them to move west. In 1513 he lead an expedition to current day Panama and found a tribe of natives. The chief took him to a mountaintop where they saw the vast ocean. The Pacific ocean was discovered at that time.
