Abraham Lincoln was one of the greatest presidents of all-time. Abe was born on February 12th, 1809, in Hardin Country, Kentucky. His childhood was very rough, his family war not a rich family at all, they lived in a one room log cabin for a little bit of Abe's life. After that his father moved the family from Kentucky to Indiana because, slavery was a big thing in Kentucky, and his father hated slavery. His mother died when Abe was 9 from a disease called Milk Sickness. His father was a single parent for most of his life, after his mom died. His parents names are Thomas & Nancy Lincoln. He had two siblings a sister named Sarah, and a brother named Thomas Jr. Abe and his siblings went to a one room schoolhouse, but Abe did not always go to school, he usually did not because, he had to work by cutting down trees and working on the farm. …show more content…
After that he ran for senator in 1858, but he lost to Stephen Douglas even though he won the popular vote. Before both of these he was a owner of a general store, (he was only about 23 years old when he owned it) but that didn’t last long, because he wanted to teach himself how to be a surveyor. After that he taught himself how to be a lawyer. After he taught himself to be a lawyer he got into politics, he first started being a congressman, than ran for senator, but he didn’t win. After that he wanted to be something bigger, like the president. Abraham Lincoln's wife's name was Mary Todd Lincoln. They had four kids, Robert Todd Lincoln, Tad Lincoln, Edward Baker Lincoln, and William Wallace
