1800 Rhetorical Analysis

Logic’s “1800” is a powerful suicide prevention anthem. The song was actually named after a suicide prevention hotline. The song features Khalid and Alessia Cara and is about a highschool boy who realizes that he has a crush on a boy that attends his school. Everyday, he returns to an unsupportive and homophobic family. With the bullying at school and the homophobia at home, the boy wants to commit suicide. The song reaches it’s climax when the boy finds a gun in his home and considers suicide. He later decides to call for help and near the end of the song, we see the young boy as a grown man marrying his crush from high school and they start a family together.
