that allow anyone 18 or older, man and women, of any race the right to vote.
While all of this was happening, presidential candidates had their hands full organizing their campaigns and trying to make themselves look better than the other. John Quincy Adams, who was fluent in several languages, secretary of state for James Monroe, and mostly raised in Russia, became an enemy for Andrew Jackson. Andrew Jackson, was a hero from the Battle of New Orleans, who was also known as an Indian fighter. Like Washington, Andrew Jackson had experience in battle, but Adams also had experience in Politics like several of the previous presidents. The fighting began between the two when Jackson accused Adams of receiving help from Henry Clay, in order to win the election. When Adams won in 1824, the fight for presidency in 1828 became extremely evident.
Both campaigned for the popular vote in various ways. Jackson supporters had barbecues, parades, and rallies. They even had a theme song. Adams supporters spread rude rumors about Jacksons family, while Jackson spread rumors that Adam’s had “Royal Extravagances”. Jackson finally won the election, but these practices are still in effect today. Current president Trump and candidate Hillary Clinton, also spread rude rumors about each other. She claimed that he had ties with Russia and rigged the election, while he claimed that she had emails about something. Either way, voting rights to the way people campaign, are all effects of how we get to decide who is our next president.
