The administrations of president Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge were a time of economic progress for most Americans. Many companies grew larger during the 1920’s, creating a lot of new jobs. Wages for most Americans increased, and people began to have enough money to buy new kinds of products. The 19th amendment was created saying, “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.” This showed that women now had the right to vote in a more open way. To this day women have created a name for themselves like feminist who protest and believe strongly in women’s rights. Also, in 1920 women appeared stronger and independent by wearing unrestricted clothing and acting more individualistic, the name of the free and independent women was flapper. Flappers became the new “it” thing, although not a large percentage of women were flappers “Doc 3”.
