According to the first chart, after reaching a peak of 2.5 millions in 1970 and 1980, the amount of marriages decreased moderately to 2 millions during the following decades. by comparison, there was a slight increase in divorce rates from 1 million to approximately 1.4 millions in 1980 and then slowly decline thoughout the remainder of the period.
As can be seen from the second bar chart, American adult were far more likely to get marriage; however, there was a drop by more than 10%, from 70% in 2000 to less than 60% in 2000. The percentage of adult Americans who were never married, meanwhile, rose mildly to about 20%
