group is comfortable with each other and the group will move in a positive way, however, when certain people within the friend group are having problems with each other the group doesn’t seem to function as much anymore.
The negativity of one person can change the mood of the other people within the friend group can spread out. Which is how the bad times can occur more often. The book 1984 is about people living within a society where they are not allowed to have any information in relation to the societies government. Similar to the book “Fahrenheit 451” the people were not allowed to have a “education” or really just know anything about the head of the town. Back to 1984, the society is taught to follow a certain number of rules in which if not followed, it can lead to serious punishment to them. One of the most important factors of this however, is that as each generation passes, they lose more information about the government. Certain political words and phrases that have
relation to high powers have also been prohibited in their little society. Like everything in life however, there’s always a group of people who are against things, in this case, people within the “party” are the people who want to go up against what is known as “Big Brother” who is in a higher level of the party. The main character Winston was one of the people living within the society. Although it’s rare that someone within that time and area knows how to write or read, the job that Winston has requires him to keep a journal with all the information of the events occurring in their town. After going through a lot with the people in other parties Winston ends up finding out that a society based on hate "would have no vitality. It would disintegrate. It would commit suicide" meaning that he believes in society not functioning when its only running on hate. One of the other main characters named O’Brien also makes a claim later in the book that "Old civilizations claimed that they were founded on love or justice. Ours is founded upon hatred. In our world there will be no emotions except fear and rage". In which has the same opinion as Winston. The people in the book aren’t the only ones who seem to notice this, countries around the world, for example, go through situations that reflect negativity. Aside from the book 1984, hatred is a big factor in societies. India for example is a country in which the people living within the societies have a form of hatred towards each other. In the most recent events, there has been problems within the president of India and some of the “official spokesman”. Though what the president said wasn’t directly towards the spokesman, it was said in a tweet when president Amit Shah replied to a video that spokesman Rahul Gandhi was in from an interview in relation to an act that was put into place.
“Hitting back, Shah said, ‘Lies and only Lies! See how Rahul Gandhi fictitiously revokes the SC/ST Act to incite hatred in society. A recent ruling by the Supreme Court on the Act, which, several Dalit groups say, has diluted the law, had triggered protests with the opposition parties accusing the government of not doing enough” It was then that protests started breaking out into the country and that’s only to prove that even within a couple of days ago, we still have hatred living within the real-world countries. Like in the beginning, the people within the friend group always prefer someone over another person. In this case, some people within the society favor the president while the other half of the people support the revoke of the SC/ST Act. Another example of how hatred occurs in society is in China, where there is always conflicts going on for a lot of huge reasons. On April 11, 2018, there was an article on “Workers Protests Against State Repression in China and Hong Kong”. Though the title of the article gives us an idea of what may be going on, we should take into consideration of what EXACTLY is going on. The hatred from this specific event comes from the innocent workers who have had to live with the rules set that doesn’t give left activists in china a chance to stand up for themselves.
“It explicitly targets support from left activists and workers' organizations, explaining that capitalist politicians are too enamored by economic links with the Chinese regime and conflicted by their own undemocratic policies to offer real support for democratic rights in Hong Kong or China.” From what is being said more into the article “The campaign's petition is gaining signatures worldwide.” Which gives a window of opportunity to the workers in china to go through with their protests and anything in relation to it. Unfortunately, the real world will never find a way to maintain peace within a society. Even with the example given from both India and China could not give enough examples as to why it is that we still have conflict with each other. Even though I personally like to believe that society doesn’t and can’t run on hatred, if you look at the flip side of it, hatred helps a society run. If you notice, when there is conflict going on, there’s always two sides to the argument. Both sides have a certain amount of people who believe in whatever side they chose because they feel strong towards their opinion. When more people see that there are others who share the same opinion, they open up and join them. Though the situation may not be pure and positive, when people join, it increases the positivity within themselves. This can be seen as the Yin and Yang. Though they are complete opposites from each other, together they form a balance among themselves. Its not so much of a good thing that both sides still feel negativity towards each other, but as long as the society remains and does not fade away, that’s what the key thing is to remember. The hatred does not have to be based on one certain situation, it can occur for many reasons from work, education and equality. Maybe soon we will see the day that all these conflicts can disappear, and all the societies can soon continue to go on without having any problems in the first place.
