This report analyses the current operations processes at Donner and provides recommendations supported by calculations to help improve the situation and productivity.
When assessing Donner Company’s current strategic situation, it is noticeable that certain operations of the enterprise are no longer harmonious with its goals. There is an urge to change while concentrating on the firm’s core competency: improving engineering expertise that allows it to produce specialized circuit boards. More attention should be given to gaining new strengths, yielding improved quality and strong on-time delivery. Below are presented recommendations.
Since there is a difference of set-up time and run time between work done manually and with machine, it is critical to define when it is best and efficient to use CNC for both drilling and routing.

I believe that the importance of correct programming and setting up of part is very important in today’s CNC manufacturing world as you are producing very precise components that need to be produced first time, every time or this is bad news for the company because of loss profits, scrap material and expensive repair costs. So ensuring correct programming and setting up of CNC machines is critical.…

Fletcher Guitars, a guitar-producing company based out of Los Angeles, is interested in increasing production within their Spanish sister company Guitarras Dominguez. The CEO of Fletcher Guitars decided to send Adam Wainwright, a potential high end manager in the company, to Spain to influence the increase production. His task is to convince the owner and founder of the sister company, Salvador Dominguez, that they need to increase their production to meet the standards of the rising demand in Latin music. However, the problem is that Salvador’s company places quality over quantity in everything they produce. Unfortunately, Adam’s technical mindset conflicts with Salvador’s traditional Spanish mindset. The Spanish culture is more relaxed, which causes them to work at a slower pace. Though they work at a slower pace, Salvador’s reputation for quality guitars has kept his business alive to this point. The road block in Adam’s task to increase production is Salvador’s stubbornness to not lower his standards of craftsmanship to meet Fletcher’s demand.…

One common dysfunction in bureaucracies today is alienation. Karl Marx termed alienation as, "a workers' lack of connection to the product of their labor; caused by their being assigned repetitive tasks on a small part of a product, which leads to a sense of powerlessness and normlessness"(181). Alienation operates in all levels of bureaucracies today. The U S Army and its soldiers are an excellent example of alienation in a bureaucracy. The average soldier gets up to report to formation, dressed in the same uniform as everyone else on base. This soldier runs PT (physical training) in the morning with his platoon, reports to his unit, and does his assigned MOS (military occupational specialty). At the end of the day, the soldier leaves work, ready to be home and out of their uniform.…
