1. Define (i) Owner (ii) Opencast workings and (iii) reportable injury as mentioned in the Mines Act 1952. State the duties and responsibilities of Owners, agents and manages. 2. What are the harmful effects of dust in mine workings and how does it affect the health and working efficiency of mine workers. How do you maintain dustiness of mine working within permissible limits. What type instruments are used for ascertaining exposure level of workers to dust and periodicity of such measurements. 3. Writes short notes on any three of the following : a) Training and retraining of mine workers. b) Working near mine boundaries, c) Mine closure plan, d) Place of accident 4. State the provisions of Central Electricity Authority (Measure relating to Safety and Electric supply) Regulations, 2010 for (a) Lighting overhead lines, communications and fire precautions (b) Earthing metals and (c) voltage limits. 5. Discuss the following. a) Threat to environment from surface mining and measures to mitigate the same. b) Tripartite forum and, its contribution in improving health and safety of mine workers. 6. In an opencast mine a loaded dumper going down had moved off the haul road and fallen to lower bench killing its operator, write a detailed accident enquiry report and suggest steps to prevent similar accidents.
