Know the main stages of child and young person development
The expected pattern of children and yound people’s development from birth to 19 years, including physical, communication and interlectual, and social,emotional and behavioural
Each child differs from another and their development works in the same. Although each child is unique and will not always be at the same stage as another, there are certain stages they should have achieved by each age group. Children will develop in their own way and it may take some longer than others, but there are some guidelines that are set out, and all these things they will achieve are categorised into three mains groups. These groups are social, emotional and behavioural, communicational and intellectual, and physical. Each age group has goals in each of these areas of development.
Each area is defined into key points;
Physical
fine motor skills; writing, threading, painting and drawing gross motor skills; running, jumping, hopping, skipping, balance general coordination hand-eye coordination
Communication and intellectual developing creative and imaginative skills using skills in different ways using language to explain reasoning problem solving
