2.1 Explain The Importance Of Washing And Bath Time
Washing & Bath Time: most early years settings will only need to keep children’s face and hands clean but adults working in home-based care are likely to be involved in washing and bath time. hand washing is the main way by which we can prevent infections. it’s important to check the water temperatures all the time. lukewarm water with soap should be used role modelling is very important for all children and for babies and toddlers downwards gentle strokes method should be implemented. before and after eating food, after using the toilet, playing outdoors, after touching animals, after blowing their nose and after playing with sensory materials hands should be washed and dried. for bath dangers of scalding, falls and dangers of drowning must be kept in mind all the time, the procedure and preferences of parents should be kept intact while showering/bath time.

Care of Skin, Teeth & Hair: skin care is also very important as it acts as a significant barrier to prevent from all kinds of infection to enter the body. the skin should be kept clean all times along with protection from sun damage, during outdoor activities sunscreen should be applied all the time to protect babies/toddlers and children

Food/drinks that have been given to children should be always supervised to know the consumption of sugar. excessive sugary drinks and food can result in tooth decay. The other way in which dental decay can be prevented is brushing teeth twice a day. Supervising children while brushing teeth encourages them and is very effective. again, we must constantly have the parents/carers on board to know what type of toothpaste they use and how they brush their teeth so we can follow the same way and don’t make the children uncomfortable, for children under three just smearing the toothpaste is good enough and for children above 3 to 6 not more than a pea sized amount should be

    Skin- babies’ skin is extremely sensitive and delicate, and the parent should take extra care when cleaning the skin. Bath time is a good time to help the baby and parent to bond, the parent should make bathing a fun and enjoyable time so as the child gets older the child will look forward to bathing.
