Horizon Consulting is a software development company specializing in customized mobile application services. Since its inception, the company has diversified in to other markets, namely food services. Patti Smith, a late bloomer who went back to and graduated from college after nine years in the restaurant business, is now in charge of the restaurant side of Horizon Consulting. This case study will attempt to answer three questions pertinent to a project meeting that Patti was involved in.
1. How successful was the post-meeting? Two of the application engineers were returned to their previous projects. This re-allocation was viable in order to ensure timely project completion. The post-meeting was held to devise a replacement strategy for these engineers on their current projects. The project managers were able to solve this problem and keep their projects on track. Given the fact that, this meeting was quickly thrown together it went well. The members were able to re-allocate resources among current projects in such a way as to ensure completion of said projects. 2. What factors contributed to the success or failure of this meeting? A. The strategic management system dictated the main decisions that had to be made. Through the use of strategic management, the project managers could tell which projects were of a higher priority therefore certain resources more urgently than others. B. The success of the meeting was directly impacted by the company organizational culture. All of the project managers were eager to work as a team as well as recommend and give advice as to which resources
