My entire life has been centered around starting my career and getting to do what I love. I want to help people. That is why I’ve worked so hard throughout school, I want to be successful in my life goals. This can be seen in the academic history I have. For example, I have a 4.1 GPA, a 28 on my ACT and I have over 100 hours of volunteer work. I’ve devoted a large amount of time to my community and I’ve always wanted to be a positive person who helps others in any way I can. I have also committed to my career, I attend Summit Technology Academy for Pre- Professional nursing and I will graduate with my CNA. I hope to go straight into my area of choice and work at a hospital, right out of high school. Overall, I have…
Hello, I am currently a junior in college. This has been my third at Houston community college. I initially started off by wanting to be a Dental Hygienist but later I started to realize it was not something I was passionate about. I soon came to the conclusion that I want to be an elementary school teacher. In the beginning I was thinking about money rather than a degree I would be dedicated to. I graduated high school back in 2011 and to be honest college was never in my panorama. After graduating I got my first job at Family dollar and that was my wake up call. I realized that I would not be able to live an abundant life getting paid minimum wage. I knew that if I wanted to make a difference in my life, I would have to go back to school.…
After high school in not sure what exactly what I want to do, but I have two colleges in mind. My first choice is Berks Technical Institute, where I would study to be a medical assistant. One reason why I’m debating on that profession is because not everyone is looking for a medical assistant, and I don’t want to study something if its going to turn out pointless. My plan B will be, the arts institute of Philadelphia, where I would like to study culinary arts, I have a serious passion for cooking and baking. My plan C will be getting a job with my uncle if any of this does not go as planned. Medical assistants work with physicians, mainly in outpatient care facilities, such as medical offices and clinics. If I were to go into that field my day would consist of Answering telephones, Updating and filing patient medical records, Coding and filling out insurance forms, Scheduling appointments and Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services. Starting pay right out of college for medical assistants would be $10.14 an hour. Additional education is not mandatory but would also be nice to move up to a registered nurse, which they get paid a better wage. Some obstacles I would have to over come to pursue my dreams into going into this profession would be, being more social with others, I will over come these obstacles slowly because I am a very closed and shy person. Also, if my plans do not work of for college as I stated earlier, I will work in the construction field as a back up plan. I came to this decision when I took a course back in the 10th grade for home decorating, and I loved it although I had to drop it off my schedule because I was short a couple of credits. My day would start off by making a couple of phone calls to find out when shipments are coming in such as power tools, drywall…
My motivation to succeed in life and college starts with my ambition to want more than just a job that pays well, but a career that I love doing. I was in the navy for four years active and I loved it, but I didn’t feel fulfilled in life. Something was missing. So I made the decision to become a reservist and finish my degree and pursue my dream of becoming a Register Nurse. That dream is put on hold for now only because the school that I attended told me that even if I had all the necessary points needed, I still might not be accepted into the nursing program. I had a tough decision to make. Do I stay in this school and keep wasting time or do I go to another school and pursue something else in the medical field? That is when I decided to come to California College San Diego and pursue a degree in Medical Specialties. When I am done with this program, I would have two careers that I would enjoy doing. I would be certified in multiple areas such as: medical assistant, home health aide, pharmacy technician, nursing assistant, and medical billing and coding. Although I want to be a Register Nurse, I will use this as a stepping stool to reach my goal and dream.…
It’s easy to make a goal rather than to achieve it. However, with determination one can succeed in accomplishing it. I have accomplished one of many goals in my list and that's to attend college. In my family not a lot attended college or even finished high school, so accomplishing this goal is a big subject of matter to my family.Getting this far is even a big accomplishment in my eye’s, especially when you break free from an assembly line of generations that never had attended college. The feeling is still overwhelming, mainly because I’m the first of many generations in my family to accomplish something big like…
During my current four years of high school, I have come to a conclusion that life is hard and the decisions you make are very important. This is my last year of high school and I’m the first one to graduate from my family. My grandmother tends to tell me that I don’t need college just a simple 7 month course of medical assistant or dentist assistant and not waste any more money. I’m lost, I wish people could help me out and tried to guide me in the direction of the right decision but is my life and choices. There has been times that my grandmother has told me that I am not going to be somebody in the future.…
I graduated high school with a 3.2 GPA and I scored fairly well on the SAT. But why didn’t I go to a university? Simply put, college has a different environment and is more sophisticated than high school, and I wanted to get accustomed to the change. I chose to go to a community college, not because my grades were horrible, but instead to acknowledge the fact I was going to be in a different scenery. I also chose this route so I could save money, and to enhance the skills necessary for a university. In the U.S. News article, “Four Types of People Who Benefit From Community College”, I see myself in the second paragraph as well as the “Students who aren’t prepared to leave the nest” type.…
Over the next two years, I will be facing some of the biggest obstacles in my life. High school is considered some of the most important years of a student’s life. There, they decide what field they want to pursue and are taught what they need to know to succeed in their field. By the end of 11th grade, I hope to have a 3.8 GPA and have an ACT score between 34 and 36. I hope to have passed Allied health with flying colors, so that in my senior year I am able to find an internship in a great institution. I also hope to be certified in CPR so that I able to move quickly through college and school. By the end of senior year, I have set my goals that I keep a GPA of 3.8 or higher. I will work to achieving being a great President of HOSA and maintaining the other clubs I am a part of. Still, the most important part of senior year is college applications. By the end of first semester, my goal is to be a future student at the University of Michigan. Yet, I will try to apply to George Washington University, UNC Chapel Hill and University of Pennsylvania. I will apply to the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of…

Dedicating my time away from work with my children ensuring that they excelled in school. Continuously reminding them over the next decade on how important their education was and how much it was needed to succeed in life and society. Although I had become successful in my career path, I still wanted and needed to go to college for more reasons than one. My reasons for attending college was clear, to lead the way for my boys, to further my career path, and to be happy and proud of myself for reaching and fulfilling my dream of going to college. Once my boys were all over the age of 12 years old I finally got my chance to return to school. I am proud to announce that in December 2013 I graduated with my Associates degree in Business Administration and in March of 2014 I will be graduating with my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human…
The reason why I chose to go to union county college is because I didn’t have enough money to get into the college I wanted to go so I decided to go there to see what Its like to be in a 2 year community college . I mean it really didn’t matter to me as long I was doing something for myself to keep me busy and to keep me away from the trouble. Sometimes I think about like where I would be if I wasn’t working or going to school. I said to myself its jail, streets or die being nothing in a world full of opportunities. But now I’m somebody that’s making better decisions for me. I see that I have achieved my goal even though I have more to come which meaning I have more than just a dream.…
I am enrolled in college so that I might have the opportunity to tread down a path laden with opportunity. Growing up in an educationally diverse family has taught me that education opens doors. All it takes is a little work to earn it.…
Now instead of getting a job that sets me up for the predictable, stable future, I am aiming to please myself with a life full of new adventures in foreign places I could have never planned to touch. That is one of the reasons the idea of college excites me the most because I finally have a chance to break free from the bubble, and chase unique opportunities like studying abroad. I also finally have the chance to share my experiences, that are solely in my descriptor, with other people who may finally be able to understand me for it.…
Another reason for attending Strayer, is due to the fact that I want to have a better job to support my family. Working as a bus driver for 22 years, I feel as though it is time for a change. Working as a bus driver, the money I made was sometimes not enough for the essentials my family need, which is why I need a new job/career. For jobs today, the more education you have, the better it is for you to get the job. When I was growing up, a high school education would suffice, however due to variety of skill set require to do a job, more education is preferable. By going to school to get a degree, I know I will find a better job that will help me support my family…
