In the year 2023 the biggest problem for police officers is going to be gun control. Most officers are against gun control. Gun control poses a big problem for a police officer’s safety. Criminals will be criminals gun control will not prevent that or acts of violence with deadly weapons. There are more lethal ways being created to enforce the law and protect officers, however guns will continue to be produced and get more powerful. Human Events did a survey that showed the percent of police officers that were against gun control, that percent was 99 percent. 96 percent of police officers said that putting a limit on the number of rounds a mag can hold would not put any sort of a limit on violent crimes. 68 percent of police officers feel that a handgun ban would negatively affect an officer’s safety. 76 percent of police officers said that armed citizens played a huge role in reducing crime and that training being required would also help the situation. Now today the percent of citizens with carry permits is 29 percent, and decreasing because they are becoming harder to get.
With less honest people carrying guns to protect themselves and their families’ acts of violent crimes will only increase. There is many examples of honest armed citizens stop violent armed robberies and even saving officers. One example I like to use for this is the Texas man that saved the life of pinned down police officer in the middle of a gun fight. The suspect had an ar-15 and had the officer pinned down behind his car. The citizen realized he had the flank and was in position to help he grabbed his .45 and fired 4 shot 3 of them hit and wound the suspect. This armed citizen put his life on the line and saved a police officer who had a tactical disadvantage.
There will always be bad people in this world, and guns will continue to enter this country illegally ending up in the wrong hands. The taser is really improving quickly, TASER has
