One of the main responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant is to dismantle and put up displays. From my experiences in my placement, I firmly believe that displays are a learning tool for the children. Displays can portray the children’s work and the children can also reflect on their work, and this may encourage them to work even harder for future displays. For the children in the class, it is an achievement to have their work displayed on the wall.
One week in my placement, I was asked to dismantle a display, in order to put up another fresh display based on a new maths topic on the topic of times tables. I cleared the area moving any objects that would get in my way, therefore, removing any dangers to myself. I asked the children to stay well clear of this area. Using resources such as a staple remover, I carefully removed the staples from the display board, once removed I ensured that the

used staples were discarded into the bin and out of the reach of the children in the classroom. Furthermore, I believe it is important to plan the design of the display aswell as involving the children when planning a display as the children will recognise that their good behaviour in class may be rewarded with their work being displayed on the wall.
