Tres Bellezas is a Spanish satire movie with English subtitles that came out in 2014. It is about a mother and her three children (two daughters and a son). The mother is a previous beauty queen and wants her daughter Carolina to be one also. Her other daughter, Estefania, wants to be a beauty queen as well but her mother tells her that she is too skinny to be one. Estefania and her brother Salvador are pretty much ignored by their mother, meanwhile Carolina needs to lose weight for her school pageant so her mom locks the fridge and cabinets and teaches her to puke after eating. Carolina hangs herself after losing the competition and being made fun of by the school. They rush Carolina to the hospital and she survives. Then the family finds…

Upon entering the United States the two meet Olivia, the wife of a former sheriff and the owner of the land they were attempting to pass through. Olivia gives Jose in Miguel water in a blanket and departs after telling them there is a highway not too far where they can try to catch a ride. Later on, they run into a few local boys who are out to shoot at illegal immigrants. After firing a number of shots in the direction, Olivia shows up on her horse to see what's wrong. The boys shoe again only this time scaring the horse. Olivia falls off as the horse is spooked and is later pronounced dead. Olivia's husband Roy shows up investigating…
Movies have been around since Thomas Edison’s invention of the Kinetoscope in 1894. The Kinetoscope, or peep show, was a tall, wooden box that allowed a person to look inside and see moving images. Viewing images was made possible by the film moving past a shutter over a light source. The Kinetoscope, however, had a two major flaws: the images viewed were jerky and didn’t move smoothly, and the viewing time for one show was only twenty seconds. Improvements to the Kinetoscope allowed it to hold more film and present at least a full minute of animation. Many early films had the theme of popular culture: dancers, performances, or reenactments of historical events.…
Every movie and TV show is different but they all share one thing in common, cinematography. Cinematography is how something is shot. Within cinematography are three categories; photographic aspects, framing, and duration. Photographic aspects are the concrete decisions that deal with specifics of the photographic elements; contrast, the difference between black and white and light and dark; exposure, the amount of light per unit area; and tonality, the amount of contrast there is. Framing is what defines the image which include angles, levels, and height. Duration is the period of time that a production lasts for. I could go in depth about all these terms but that is not what this paper is about.…

After we finished reading the book “The Natural”, we watched the movie. After finishing up the movie, I could tell that there were many differences between the book and movie. The first difference I noticed was that there was a change in many scenes. For example, there is no car scene with Memo and Roy in the movie, Roy is a right fielder instead of a left fielder in the movie, and also, Iris, Roy’s “girlfriend”, is not a grandmother in the movie like she is in the book. Another important difference was that in the movie, Iris has a teenage son that is revealed to be Roy’s son too, because Roy and Iris grew up together when they were younger. This changed the movie a lot for me, because I could tell that Iris and Roy were going to end up together,…
The movie “Giant” covered a powerful Texas family increasing their influence and wealth across Texas. Politicians in Texas during the 1920s were very close to wealthy land owners and later wealthy oil barons. During parties that wealthy ranchers and oil barons would host there would often be local and state level politicians. For example, during the movie the local judge proposed a toast to Jordan “Bick” Benedict Jr.’s new bride Leslie Lynnton. Politicians would tend to try and flatter the wealthy family.…
The feeling of connectedness to the world will bring happiness on any journey. In the movie “The Way” Tom gains meaningful companions on his pilgrimage journey. The unity of Tom, Joost, Sarah, and Jack taught me the importance of companionship and building relationships that are powerful enough to get through any hardship.…

In the movie “Bernie”, we follow the story and between a Carthage, Texas funeral director Bernie Tiede, and his co-dependent relationship with a wealthy widow, Marjorie Nugent. As “Bernie” unfolds, we see the companionship turn for the worse as Ms. Nugent’s ill-temper causes Bernie to snap – and lands her dead in her freezer. This movie brings up some questions, specifically regarding image. After analysis, the question I keep coming back to is “Was Bernie genuine and sincere? Or was it all a façade?” Although Bernie committed a horrible crime, I believe the answer to this question is “yes”- Bernie was a genuine man.…
The film End of Watch (2012) by David Ayer is one of the best police movies in recent years, and the reason why it is the one of the best in recent years is because it has showed a different perspective of a police officer’s job. In this movie it doesn’t show them saving people in every scene. In this movie it shows what police officers go through on a daily basis. This movie defines how police officers are willing to risk their lives.…
Death is inevitable. Everything that lives must eventually face death. There are two certainties and guarantees in the passage of life. The indubitable is the birth of an individual and death of the individual. The end of life for an individual is perceived as an enemy to humanity and a horrid event the individual and family are encountering. The pronouncement of the death is an afflictive and gut wrenching pain for the caregiver as well as the family. While dying can be considered a joyous occasion for the person dying, the thought of death is faced with uncertainty and fear. The dying often experience grief. Although the dying is experiencing grief, the semblance is not the same as the gut wrenching pain the caregiver will understand. The…
The Glass Menagerie is a play of a family who is incredibly unstable. The play is about many other things, however the childlike minds of the main characters are a main point of the film. Each character of the film is caught within their own fantasy. Their inability to stay in reality hurts each character differently. Restoration is not actually attained in this film, however there was a desire from the mother, Amanda, for restoration. This movie is not a good depiction of restoration because no restoration actually takes place. A simple definition of restoration is putting things back to the way they were. Laura has always been aloof and crippled, and Tom never seemed to be interested in the reality in front of him so there is nothing to put back. Amanda is however trying to recreate her youth through the many reminiscing’s of her past the forcing of Laura to get gentlemen callers, and the nagging of Tom to stay home are Amanda’s way of trying to seek restoration. Although incredibly flawed, Amanda does try her best for the people she loves, Tom and Laura. Her feeble attempts at restoration only show that care that she has for her family even though her the way she shows it is flawed.…
