My teaching practice helps meet this statement on having a positive, responsive, cooperative relationship with each child’s family by knowing each family members and greeting them by name. I am able to invite families to take part in program activities. I am able to help families understand the importance of play for children. I am also able to empathize with families around stressful areas of parenting, such as lack of sleep, illness, challenging behaviors and I am able to provide support and suggestions when needed or asked.…
As a teacher of young children I am aware of the need to involve parents in child’s educational and developmental process. Each parent is an expert and a valuable partner when it comes to identifying and meeting their child’s needs. As I reflect on my teaching practices, I make sure tha I provide a variety of opportunities for parents as well as family members to participate in activities and experiences planned for their child. By valuing parents’ involvement in the total education of their children, it shows my competence in meeting Standard IV.…
Good relationships are really important for our wellbeing. Humans have evolved as social animals, so ability to develop good relationships is an extremely important step on the path to getting the best out of his or her life.…
In this assignment I intend to discuss the involvement of parents/carers in supporting a child’s learning and development by considering how effective the Pen Green Loop is when used in partnerships between them and educational practitioners. I will then assess any differences between my practice and the approach of the Pen Green Loop, finally I will evaluate what changes could be made to improve the effectiveness of parental involvement in my setting.…
It is important to understand that not all parents wish to take part with working in partnership and some parents may react in a negative manner but by not putting any pressure on them it , Some carers may find it difficult to accept their child needs assessments to identify possible learning difficulties this can be helped with being sensitive and listening to any concerns the parent may have and offering lots of support and information and give plenty of time for discussions, explain that they will be informed about any changes and that their child will not be singled out and there is parents who act in a positive way strategies to support carers who may react positively or negatively to partnership opportunities.…
It is vital that the partnership is built between the school, parents and carers as this will…
Working in partnership with parents is also important because they are the children’s first educators and also their carers, so therefore their views and opinions should be taken into consideration and valued…
When a child care or a school has a special event, parents can participate activities with children. Parents can support their child to play together, read books to their class, or make something in class. Children will be so happy and feel comfortable by having a parent involvement. This involvement will enhance children’s growth in academically and socially.…
Constructive working relationships between teachers and parents can enhance adults knowledge and understanding of children and children’s learning opportunities, and so contribute to children’s learning and wellbeing at home and in the setting. Children who see their parents working closely together with their teachers “gain a sense of continuity and of being cared for” and experience a “trusting and secure environment in which they can learn and grow” (Whalley & the Pen Green Centre Team, 2001).…
Findings show the importance of parental involvement, the most important factor is that the setting will have better knowledge and understanding of the child’s learning and progress, from this there can be sharing of information between parents/ carers and the setting about the child’s development, their learning and their interests. It is important for settings to understand this importance as the parents are the children’s first teacher and will provide valuable knowledge and information and should be viewed as equals. By promoting the parental involvement they can hopefully improve a child’s learning but learning together as a family, where they can support each other’s education and create positive attitudes towards learning in the family. By providing encouragement for the child at home the parents can grasp a better understanding of how the child learns and how to properly support their development. By learning together it can also improve the skills and confidence of the parents, or possibly if the parents believe that their learning might also need to improve and it might be the motivation that they need to go and seek their own support. To maintain and support the parental involvement that has already been established by continually inviting the parents to get involved with volunteering or stay and play sessions. It is also important to understand about modern day pressures that parents have to deal with, for example having to work long hours and struggling to make the time to fit in with a child’s learning. As a setting it is important that support is provided so that the parents or carers can still provide enough support to the children without having to feeling guilty about it.…
Parents with knowledge about parenting and their own child’s development have more appropriate expectations and use more developmentally appropriate guidance techniques. Early care and education professionals have a wealth of knowledge about child development that they can share with parents, whether through an informal conversation, in a class, or by sharing brochures and other written information with parents. Most parents truly want to do what is best for their children but need help to gain knowledge and information.…

Effective communication is one of the most important principles when forming partnerships with parents. Parents are the most knowledgeable when it comes to their child and if they feel they can share this with staff of the early childhood centre the child will benefit from this (Beaver et al., 2001).…
Effective parent/teacher partnership plays a pivotal role in supporting the development of children. It is apparent that parents’ involvement or interaction with their children’s early childhood education centre is important to both teachers and children. Parents can be involved by “providing necessary information about the child, providing resources and attending special events to active participation in decision-making” (Keesing Styles, 2000, p. 5). Teacher plays a significant role in holding the teacher/parent partnerships together (Patrikakou & Weissberg, 1999). In order to build positive and strong partnerships, it is crucial for the parents and teachers to show…
The importance of strong partnerships with parents. The charity was founded by parents as a self help organisation to provide early years education for their children in the absence of state provision and to lobby for universal nursery education. The aim of the charity remains the same – to enhance the development and education of young children by enabling their parents to provide for their own children’s needs through community-based groups – though the ways that we do that in the twenty first century may be different from those we used in earlier days. Believing as we do, that parents are the first and most influential educators of their children, we need to take serious action to support this role. The partnership with parents has got to be more than termly formal reports, home/setting books and questionnaires, good as these things are. There must be on-going daily dialogue to build the trust and confidence that will allow a true partnership with parents to grow. This takes time and stability to develop fully. It also requires an investment in a generous ratio of staff to families so that sufficient attention can be paid to each individual child and adult. We know, and the research work of Professor Desforges and Professor Kathy da Silva among others provides evidence, that the involvement of parents in their children’s education is good for children, is good for parents, is good for society so an investment in a partnership with parents is well worth making.…
