Section A: Communication Procedures
1. Purpose. To establish communication procedures in the 36th Combat Aviation Brigade.
2. Communications Means. Each command post installs, operates and maintains (IOM) the following systems:
a. Combat Net Radio (CNR) Systems.
(1) Advanced System Improvement (ASIP) Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS) is a FM frequency hopping secure radio. The BDE HQs operates three nets to maintain communications with the DIV HQs: DIV CMD, O&I, and A&L nets. The BDE HQs also maintains communications with adjacent unit HQs over these nets and subordinate unit HQs on the BDE CMD, O&I, A&L nets, and monitors adjacent and subordinate unit nets as required. During ground movement ASIP SINCGARS is the primary means of communication. Retransmission is primarily a function of the maneuver battalion and may require augmentation by C/449 as the Brigade signal company.
(2) HAVEQUICK II (HQII) is a UHF radio capable of secure, frequency hopping, voice communications. HQII provides joint air-to-air, ground-to-air, and ground-to-ground capability, and is used primarily on the Air Battle Net (ABN) during AASLT missions. All organic aircraft and selected CPs have this
