Best American Companies To Work For Everyone knows that organizations that build trust and create a rewarding cycle of personal contribution and appreciation create workplace cultures that deliver outstanding business performance. The three companies I chose to research for this assignment was Google, Wegmans Food Markets and CHG Healthcare Services. Each one of these companies stood out to me for multiple reasons, but my deciding factor was how much they focus on their employee’s needs and satisfaction. People strive to support their way of life and their families. Potential employees consider benefits and pay previous to selecting a company of choice. Benefits may consist of a good health care package, and excellent pension, and paid vacation. To attract the best candidates companies will offer an array of incentives and benefits to remain competitive in their market. In reviewing three companies listed on Fortunes Magazine 's annual ranking of America 's 100 Best Companies to Work For, Google, Wegmans Food Markets, and CHG Healthcare Services will uncover elements of the company that cultivate employee enthusiasm, and group unity. Google is famous for the long list of perks their employees get to enjoy, such as free food in cafeterias, a climbing wall, and free laundry. Presently Google ranks number one on Fortune 's 100 best companies to work for. Google insists that its employees experience partnership with the organization and make that clear by emphasizing its innovations, from its health and retirement plans, to its flexible and generous scheduling options for vacation and maternity leave, and even free laundry facilities (Losh, 2011). At Google employees enjoy benefits such as possessing an opportunity to bring pets to work, participate in provided childcare, and gorge on free food. Google additionally promotes an environment in which employees experience encouragement to make suggestions, and joint effort among employees prove vital toward development, and innovation. Google has constructed an empire where well-chosen elite accommodates flexibility, shifting roles, and urgency. Google shares whatever information it can with as many employees as possible, encouraging debate but insisting on like-minded cooperation (Hardy, 2005). Google no longer offers the garden-variety employee of the month parking space, instead has set a higher standard demonstrating how companies experience better consequences as a result of rewarding its workforce. The Wegmans organization is very people oriented.
As a family-owned U. S. regional supermarket chain, Wegmans Food Market ranked number five on the list and has opened more than 70 stores. More than 2,000 workers have enrolled in a free smoking-cessation program since 2009 and recently opened a new 24/7 health hotline (Wegmans Homepage n.d.). Wegmans has made employee health a religion: I know some people who work there and they have nothing but great things to say about the organization. I have decided that Wegmans is the only grocery store I want to do my shopping in because of the amazing manner that they treat their customers. To demonstrate an eagerness to motivate employees, and strengthen group cohesion, Wegmans has employed a wide variety of employee discounts and sports activities for the entire staff to take
advantage.
One of the employee discounts include reduced membership to fitness centers at many participating health clubs and areas at store locations. Employees also have an opportunity to join year around softball, and volleyball teams in which creates an environment that employees can become more acquainted, and strengthen cohesion through friendly high-quality competition. They even give my son stickers and a balloon every time we go there and go above and beyond what I have seen any retail location do to make their customers feel appreciated. Other family discounts include to sports events, movie tickets, vehicle services, and educational events. This enhances commitment, and loyalty from the employees in which ties in with the maximum theory that suggests that recognize behaviors for persons seeking membership in a group, and a person 's strong desire to maintain membership in the group (Losh, 2011). Other evidence of employee motivation, rather than hiring experience, and expensive truck drivers, Wegmans allowed current store employees to apply for those positions when the company opened a new $100 million distribution center in Pennsylvania (Wegmans Picks Truckers from Its Own Bargain Bin, 2005). CHG Healthcare services is one of the largest providers of healthcare staffing in the country. They Ranked number three on Fortune 's 100 best companies to work for, CHG Healthcare Services staffing firm employs more than 1400 people in seven offices around the United States. They do business in 50 states, and have the broadest offering of healthcare professionals in the industry. CHG based in Salt Lake City, has made Computerworld 's 2012 list of "Best Places to Work in IT" recognizing organizations that challenge their information technology people while providing exceptional benefits and compensation (Information Technology, 2012). This demonstrates that CHG believes that benefits and compensation leads to employee motivation. People from every walk of life inspire to become affiliated with companies that rank as the best workplace organizations to work for. As an acknowledgement of cohesion, CHG takes pride in their leaders, and the unique strengths they bring to the team (CHG Healthcare Services, 2012). This company falls in line with the exchange theory in which implies that the group that maintains rewards, or rewarding experiences, throughout the membership experience will have probably more success at maintaining membership, and thus continuing to survive (Losh, 2011)
