We are thrown into day (290) Tom is heartbroken, going on to tell how Summer just wants to be friends. The shot shows not a couple, but one man and one woman. Tom was happy for her, in a way that he knows he and Summer will never be again. Summer is engaged and Tom is off to a interview where he finds his new love, Autumn.
The dominant in this shot is Tom, sitting in the center of the screen turned away looking at the view. This view is Tom's favorite spot in the whole city, he says "There's a lot of beautiful stuff here too though." Replying to Summer as she points out parking lots.
