Im also reminded of ben who stands up for others. Ben is recruited by the aliens who he thinks are soldiers. He used to be an athlete before the waves. Then he was saved and recruited they pushed him the hardest but he made it through and became exceptional. Demetri Martin once said, “It's interesting to be an adult and to have that level of ignorance about something, because the nice part about is you get that discovery. The learning curve is so rich and steep.” (AZ quotes). The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey is about an alien attack on Earth and each attack is called a wave. Each wave kills more people than the last. He is selfish, taking the supplies shipped in for himself and his group while stealing from stores. He would ‘[go] off on how the government [is] not helping [them] enough’ (104) before turning a cheek on everyone to go ‘[do] something ten times more selfish’ (104). I do not empathize or relate with this character in any way considering how he would just leave everyone that ever cared for him in the dust when he sees an opportunity that benefits only…
