There are many theories and ideas created throughout history based on religion. One of the most debatable theories based on religion are the seven deadly sins. One reason is because of the religious bond it holds with many people. Aswell because certain individuals have many different beliefs and opinions. The theory of the existence of the seven deadly sins came about during the middle ages. The Christian church hierarchy during those times emphasized this theory as well as heavenly virtues (opposite). The seven deadly sins theory spread out enormously that it had a great influence on European artists (early 14th century). Which can be clearly seen through medieval works of literature. For example, Dantes Alighein Divine Comedy and Ernst and Johanna Lehner Books of devils, demons ,and witchcrafts. The seven deadly sins are also known as the capital vices. Which include two categories venial sins (minor) and farther more severe sinning : mortal sin (deadly). Which all depending on the sin and situations. A deadly sin that is seen as mortal in pride. Pride (latin superbia) is the excessive belief in ones own abilities . That interferes with the individuals recognition of the grace of god. It is a mortal sin because it is the desire to be more important than others as well. Which is frowned upon Christian beliefs (god is the almighty power). Furthermore onto the other six sins : envy,gluttony,lust,greed,anger, and sloth. The sin envy is similar to jealousy characterized as a desire for others traits, status, abilities (mortal sin). This sin is directly related to the ten commandments “neither shall you desire anything that belongs to your neighbor” . Which exactly describes envy , the desire to possess what is not ours. Next sin similar to emvy is greed (avarice). Which is the desire for material possessions , ignoring the realm of
