7 must song (phillippines)
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For ambers waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain.

My Philippines, dear Philippines,
God shed his grace on Thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

I. Philippines our native land,
The country of the brave,
Pearl of all the Orient seas,
The home of men upright.

II. We are ready all the time, To work for peace and right, Philippines, dear Philippines For freedom all of us will fight.

Wake up so wake up,
Fight for the right.
Freedom for freedom All must fight! Oh! (Back to 1.)

Heaven watch the Philippines
Keep her safe from harm
Guard her sons and their precious ones
In the city and on the farm
Friendly with America
Let her always be.

Heaven watch the Philippines
And keep her forever free
And keep her forever free.

I love my own, my native land
Philippines my Philippines
To thee I give my heart and hand,
Philippines my Philippines
The trees that crown thy mountains grand
The seas that beat upon thy strand awake my hand to thy command,
Philippines my Philippines.

Bayang magiliw
Perlas ng silanganan,
Alab ng puso
Sa dibdib mo’y buhay.

Lupang hinirang,

Lupa ng araw, ng luwalhati’t pagsinta;
Buhay ay langit sa piling mo;
Aming ligaya, na ‘pag may mang-aapi
Ang mamatay nang dahil sa ‘yo.

Ako ay Pilipino
Ang dugo’y maharlika
Likas sa aking puso
Adhikaing kayganda

Sa Pilipinas na aking bayan
Lantay na

    Se Quay Song Analyse

I enjoy listening to this song anyways as it is in my native language and one of my top childhood songs. The song is about a couple who is in love with each other but when the guy has to leave for the US, they broke up. He later returns and the love is still there. This is a very cute story and I love singing the lyrics that describes his feelings for her as he was away. If I broke up and get back together with my boyfriend, I would want this to be our scenario, that we broke up and got back together because of distance or circumstances, not because we wanted this. I also love how there are english lyrics sung with deep emotion in the song: “I will be back for you.” The music video for the song is also very heartwarming and brings a smile to my face whenever I think of it. If I got back together with my ex, I could listen to this song to remind me of my feelings for him. This song is a great song that evokes strong emotions from me and makes me think about love and how strong it is to overcome lots.…

    Amy Tan - Mother Tongue

Amy Tan makes a valid point about the use of different Englishes that are spoken in different places and to certain people. What one says may sometimes vary based on the person, situation, or event as well. How one speaks and what they pick up on happens in the home and other people see them differently based on the way they speak. Different languages become difficult to translate as well because there isn’t always a similar word in the translating language. Many people can relate to this story in the aspect that everyone has their own way of speaking and others’ make them feel inferior with their speech. Some people may have difficulty saying certain words and those who speak well may downsize the verbally handicapped. This is a great essay that relates well to this day and time.…

    Canto By John Shade

    • 529 Words
    • 3 Pages

In the first canto, John Shade describes his childhood life. He begins by expressing a feeling of yearning; the context in which he does so suggests that it is for freedom, which one can imagine would be from his less-than-wonderful life. He then begins recounting actual details from his younger years, such as his photographic memory. In doing this, he describes the area and house he lived in; the area in lines 42-57, the house in lines 58-63. In this section he writes an interesting line: “The phantom of my little daughter’s swing.” (Nabokov, 35) His phrasing when saying “little daughter” leads the reader to believe that perhaps his daughter is dead, since .if she was alive, she would be older, and therefore he would refer to her as just his daughter, without the age-descriptive word. He then recounts his memories of his parents’ deaths: his father from a bad heart, his mother pancreatic cancer. Lastly, he describes living with his Aunt Maud, who was an eccentric old woman.…

The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock is a beautifully written, but yet somewhat sad poem by poet T. S. Eliot. It tells the inner thoughts of a lonely man who is seeking love of a woman, but his own fear of rejection causes him to stray from following through with the action. The poem title itself is very ironic because the character himself is fearful, anti-heroic and unromantic. For someone who is in love, wants to find love, or wants to be in love they have to be courageous and willing to take whatever it brings even rejection. It is clear that Prufrock is afraid of being rejected because in various lines of the poem we see that he builds up to ask a question then strays away into a different thought. What is unclear however is whether Prufrock is speaking to someone or talking to his inner thoughts.…

I listened to the Latin American praise song “Te Doy Gloria” and I listened to the Christian praise song “endless praise” by Planetshakers. “Te Doy Gloria” message was giving Jesus the glory and just magnifying how wonderful Jesus is. The song Endless Praise by Planetshakers has a similar message, also singing to glorify Jesus and how we should praise him continually. Both of these songs are glorifying Jesus and the importance of how we should lift the name of Jesus on high. Also, both songs proclaim the beauty and wonder of Jesus but do this in different ways. Although, after listening to both a couple of times I still like the song “endless praise” the most. The reason I like this song better is because it goes more in depth about Jesus and…
