In the beginning of Church history, it was believed that a child should receive all three sacraments of initiation before routinely receiving Jesus’ body and blood, at mass. The bishop would administer these Sacraments all together. As the Church grew bigger and bigger, especially after Constantine legalized Christianity in the fourth century, there were not enough bishops to administer these Sacraments individually. They then made the decision to split up the sacraments of Initiation. Many Churches continue to use this method including Eastern Orthodox Churches, in fact I received all the sacraments in this manner. Also, when adults receive the sacraments in the Catechismal manner they prepare and receive all the sacraments of Initiation during the celebration of the Easter Vigil. But the Catholic Church began to evolve the sacraments and had to change many issues.occurring in order to keep to rituals strong.
