The first stage of genocide known as “classification” is the process of one party classifying others as outsiders. This causes a chain reaction and creates hate among the two groups, and ultimately this leads to the introduction of Genocide. The first stage is important not to be ignored by the media or government because once the hate created by classification begins, propaganda soon follows, leading to encouraged rivalries and hate among simple minded people. Stage two, symbolization is the reality of giving certain groups titles such as calling Black people “Nigger” or White people, “Cracker”. Stage two creates a greater sense of supremacy for the group starting the Genocide, as it enables them to degrade their victims to a lower level and increase their own authority over them. Symbolization can be prevented by public protests and riots demanding the abolishment of the symbol placed upon them. The third stage of Genocide is dehumanization. This stage involves calling certain groups of people names which connect to animals or animal like terminology. This stage relates to the second stage of Genocide, symbolization, because the individuals promoting the Genocide are symbolizing certain groups to be equal to the status of animals. Once dehumanization undergoes full capacity, the Genocide becomes difficult to stop, because the victims are already classified as animals and have no impact even in large protests or riots. The forth step of Genocide is organization. Organization is a vital step which enables the people leading the genocide to arrest people who pose possible threats to their ideas and beliefs. This step ultimately provides the Genocide leaders the power and authority of removing any opposing people who may conflict with their intentions and interrupt their plans.
The fifth stage of Genocide, “Polarization”, is the active killing of any political threats to the Genocide leaders. This step is similar to the fourth step of Genocide
