8th Grade Graduation Speech
I would like to begin by thanking some people who have helped me achieve this goal and dream to become the Valedictorian. * I would like to first and foremost thank God, for it is through Him that all things are possible. * I would next like to thank my parents. You have been a major influence on my life. Thank you for all you have done for me in my life. Dad, you are my hero. I have always looked up to you and always will. Mom, you are my best friend. I love our talks and spending time together. * I would also like to recognize the rest of my family. Thank you for always supporting us in anything we do and never missing a moment that is important me. You are always there to watch no matter what we are doing. * To the present and former teachers: I want to thank you for planting seeds within me to prepare me for my future and especially for wiping those tears of stress over grades and assignments. I feel confident that I am as ready as any 8th grader to enter the doors prepared for my classes in High School. * To my coaches: You are like my second set of parents. I have learned so much from you and 50 years down the road, I know I will still be able to count on you. Although we had a few disagreements and I got yelled at a few times, I look up to you and respect you for teaching me more than just about the game… for teaching me about life’s lessons and knowing which battles to fight and which battles to leave alone.
Last, but certainly not least, to the 8th grade class – What can I say? When I came here in 1st grade, each and every one of you welcomed me with open arms. On this journey, We have laughed; we have cried; we have argued; we have learned; and we are about to enter into another mile of our journey in a new place. Some of us will go one way, and others another, but at the end of the journey we will always have the memories of here, of this school, the memories of our bulldog pride and traditions.
As we end this

To my Year 12 subject teachers, I thank you immensely for ensuring that you provided an environment which fostered personal and academic growth. Moreover, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for extending on your role as a teacher and becoming a person in which I can confide in. I truly could not have succeeded if it wasn’t for the investment of these teachers in my Year 12 journey – something which truly allowed me to individually flourish. I extend my gratitude to each one of the staff, students and associates of the college by which I had the privilege to know, for providing me with unfaltering support.…

On behalf of the eight grade class, we would like to thank our teachers for pushing us to strive for our best; our coaches for encouraging us to be active and try our best; our officers on campus for keeping the school safe; our parents for standing beside us as we navigated through our middle school years. Most especially I would like to thank our principal, Mrs. Lowe, for making our school a wonderful place to be and a national school to watch. We wish you the best of luck wherever you may go. Any school that has you will only be better for it.…

When I met you nearly three years ago, I didn’t realize how much you were going to support and push me to always be thinking intelligently and to always be better. I thought I knew, but I didn’t. You alone have made my desire to teach greater than I thought possible. You have made me think about my current and future students more carefully than anyone ever has, and for that, I am beyond grateful.…

Welcome family, friends, teachers, and fellow students and thank you for coming to our 8th grade graduation. As we look forward to the future with excitement and anticipation, it is easy for one to become overwhelmed by the vast possibilities that our futures may hold; however, as we see our goals and objectives out on the horizon, life is about the journey, not the destination.…

As a class, we have endured changes throughout the years from being split up in the classroom ( Port Allen on one side and Erwinville on the other) as if we were on the bus with Rosa Parks to being untied, from having a teacher and coming back from Christmas break wondering who was going teach us geometry, a change in administration, down to dances from the dougie to “jiggin” and now to dabbin. Through it all I am glad to say we made it; we survived ebola, Oscar Proud, the Predator, Maleficent. Ms. Morgan’s test, Ms. Roger’ solid advice, and the King of Shade worksheets Mr. Seal’s himself. Also for some of you relationship after relationship. All of these good…

Before I start with my speech, allow me to ask a very simple question. Have you guys ever complaint about your school, your teachers, or being a student? I bet almost 99.9% of you guys said yes. We actually complain a lot, over the smallest things and lack appreciation. And though this ceremony recognizes our efforts, it also recognizes and pays homage to the dedication of our parents and our teachers. We would not have been able to accomplish this much without their help. So today, in honor of all the students, thank you. You know, I never expected to be standing up here but here I am, giving this speech and probably doing a terrible job at it because if you couldn’t tell, I’m pretty nervous. But thanks to NAMS, it pushed me out of my comfort zone and onto this stage in front of all you wonderful people. Succeeding from middle school is no easy task, looking back it surprises me that I even made it this far. A famous author, Theodore Roosevelt, once said, “A man who has never gone to school may steal from a freight car; but if he has a collage education he may steal the whole rail road.” Even though we have a while to get a collage education, we’ve made it here, to the end of 8th grade. Just like a rail road the train has to be set on a good track, just like our education. So far for this 8th grade class, our tracks have been fantastic ever since we first started our journey. Our first stop was 6th grade. New building, new people, and it were a whole new environment. New fears emerged and I remember feeling like a fish out of the sea. The year went by and our next stop was 7th grade, which the teachers have been preparing us for. We came back much more confident than the year before. We looked down at the 6th graders and asked ourselves, “Were we that short just last year?” And by the end of 7th grade, we were on our way to 8th grade. The year started off at a sprint and it seems to have left many of us still trying to catch our breath but 8th grade is also the…

This is a very important time of our lives, so I would like to start by thanking the people who have helped us reach this point. Firstly, I would like to thank my parents for being willing to make many sacrifices to allow me to attend such a wonderful school. It is because of their sacrifice and love that I have been able to receive a complete and well-rounded education that will help me have a successful future. Secondly, I would like to the the amazing teachers who have spent years preparing us for our future. You have such a hard job, and we rarely thank you for it, but thank you for pushing us and helping us reach our goals. Finally, I would like to thank my classmates…

Hello, I am so honored to speak in front of all the parents, staff and my fellow students today. Wow guys we made it! These past 3 years have been full of so many memories that I know we’ll never forget. Think all the way back to 6th grade we were always the littlest ones and I remember feeling like a fish out of water. We were terrified of getting lost or being late for class, but excited to have a locker to decorate and change classes each period. It doesn’t seem like that was over 2 years ago at all. We came back in 7th grade, much more confident than the year before. We looked down to the new 6th graders, asking "Were we really that short just last year?" And by the end of 7th grade I was shocked that I was officially an 8th grader. 8th grade is defiantly my favorite year. I feel like I have everything under control. But next year is full of changes. We'll have free periods, more homework, electives, and an open campus. The new choices also bring new responsibilities that test us in figuring out how we grow from kids to adults. As we say goodbye on the last day we sit together as Balboa students, we reflect on what has happened the past 3 years, but also look forward to what is coming up in the next 4 years. My advice to future 8th graders is to keep up with your school work and try your absolute best and make lots of good, loyal friends that don’t get you in the bad kind of crowd. And most importantly, have fun! This is the last year you will be the oldest in the school for another 4 years, so enjoy it! I’d like to finish this speech off with this quote : A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.-Ayn Rand…

We’ve been through a lot, KEEP, Hiroshima, Izu, Showa Park... wait I wasn’t really there in all of that. I’ve actually only been here for a year, but coming to ASIJ was a life changing experience, and I feel like I have been here for pretty much my whole life. As this year went by, I already felt like you guys were a part of my family and even in this year, that seemed to fly right before my eyes, we all have been through a lot. Fun times, hard times, sad times, and even those dreadful days with too many tests. Even if this is the American School in Japan, all of us come from all over the world and that’s what makes us global, and I had realized as the year went by that what’s unique about our grade is each and every one of us is different, with our own personality, hobbies, and character. Remember, Bonus 30 SEL guys. I learnt that we all had a unique way of expressing ourselves, which taught me to…

As the Graduating Class of 2013, we need to express our gratitude for the wonderful opportunities that we were exposed to. Our thanks must go to all the staff and the management of St. Mary’s Catholic High School. We are privileged to have attended this school. St. Mary’s offers a world class education - of that we have no doubt. Our thanks must also extend to our parents and guardians. You have remained committed to our education, but more importantly, you have remained committed to us. You have stood by our sides, even when things may have seemed a bit rocky.…
