9-11 Reflection Essay

I remember it - the Paris attacks. It was just a normal day at school and although I heard faint murmurs of some attack, it was never really made into a big deal as we all just did the usual. The teachers still gave homework and no one left school or work mid day like many other tragedies such as president Kennedy's assassination or the 9-11 terrorist attack on the Twin Towers. It might have been that way because no one understood the severity of it. I was riding home on the bus and like most people I was on social media and almost everything was covered with the Paris attacks, support messages and most profile pictures had a transparent French flag overlayed onto them. Even with all of the buzz about the attacks I didn’t see any information
It just made me wonder how we do it, how our society functions. It only takes one Person with bad intentions to cause a ripple that's irreversible (mass destruction); we are almost like a colony of ants except for the fact that if one of us goes crazy we have more than mandibles, we have bombs and guns and an impossible amount of weapons to control. I realized that it is now a different time than our parent’s life, where men self detonate out of radicalization just to scare a country and cause damage. However our country has a way to persevere and we didn’t stop what we were doing; we just kept going on with our lives. We know America will be a target but we will still be accepting of all races. We didn’t stop muslim immigration because of the attacks. Granted, we still do screening but it shows our core principles. To be American is to persevere and accept others while prospering by understanding that just because one person of a religion, political group or ethnicity does something that is either bad or good, it does not and will never be a representation of that whole religion, political group or
