I have selected the image because I have spent so much time watching documentaries, researching and reading up on the event so much that I know a lot about the event including the conspiracy theories that surround the event. Also I selected 9/11 because it is an event that seriously changed the world, travel was changed completely and security became a lot tougher both on the plane and inside the airport.
Questions: Why was security so poor, even though before 9/11 there were plenty of hijackings and attempted hijackings?
How did these people make it into the United States in the first place?
Why did president bush take so long to react to the reports? …show more content…
The image is off the 2009 ANZAC Day AFL game when Zaharakis kicked the game winning goal with seconds left.
After a long hard battle throughout the game it came down to the last few seconds the ball was kicked to David Zaharakis who was in just his fourth game who turned around and kicked an absolute beauty to give the bombers the lead. The ball was then bounced and siren went, Zaharakis in his rookie season had become a hero and had given the bombers the ANZAC game victory over Collingwood 93-88. The reason I have selected this image is because I am an Essendon fan and I will never forget the moment he kicked that goal, it was incredible and has stuck with me 8 years
on.
3 Questions: How did Collingwood let Zaharakis be that open?
Who was on Zaharakis?
How is he not captain for Essendon right now?
The image is the aftermath of the Tenerife Airport disaster. This event happened back in March of 1977 and it took place Los Rodeos Airport, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. Two Boeing 747s collided on the runway at Tenerife causing 583 people to be killed and only 61 people survived. It is the worst aviation accident in history. The main reason why this even happened was because there was a bombing at the airport that was supposed to be taking the two aircraft because of the bombing all the planes had to be diverted to a very small airport known as Los Rodeos. The planes were waiting at the airport for hours before finally the could leave and go to their original destination, however fog was coming in around the airport and it was making visibility very poor, and because the air traffic controllers were not trained to handle Boeing 747s and especially with poor visibility. To cut a long story short there was a breakdown in communication which caused the KLM one of the Boeing 747s to take off to early thus colliding with the Pan Am the other plane. The image is significant to me because I have spent so much time just like 9/11 researching the incident and watching documentary’s that I know so much about the day, I also picked it because of how much the industry changed after the accident and because it is the worst aviation disaster ever.
3 Questions: Why were almost all of the planes transferred to one airport even though there were other airports in the area?
Why was there a rule regarding how long the KLM crew can be in action, and why can’t the rule be breached if there are delays that can’t be helped?
How did the some people even survive the accident as it seems like no one could survive something as brutal as this?
The Image is of Lewis Hamilton’s (who is a formula one driver for Mercedes) engine on fire. This happened at the Malaysian Grand Prix in 2016, Lewis was leading the whole race before his engine blew out on lap 40 which intern made him had to retire from the race and give my favourite driver Daniel Ricciardo the race win. This event also effectively costed Lewis the championship to Nico Rosberg. The image is significant to me because the 2016 F1 season was dominated by Mercedes and they were winning every race so when Lewis’ engine blew out I cheered so loud and was so happy because Ricciardo went onto the win the race.
3 Questions: Was the engine blow out an inside job by the team to give Rosberg the championship? (Because this has been heavily speculated)
Did Verstappen Ricciardo’s teammate back off to give the Daniel the win?
How did Mercedes have so many engines made for drivers, but Lewis’ were the only ones that were failing that year?
The image is of the Oklahoma City Bombing. The Oklahoma City bombing was a car bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, in the U.S. state of Oklahoma, on April 19, 1995. Carried out by Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols, the bombing destroyed a third of the building, killed 168 people and injured more than 680 others. The reason I have chosen this image is because it is significant to me because the man who was behind this attack was Timothy McVeigh and he was executed by lethal injection on my exact birthday June 11 2001, it is pretty cool to know that a mass murder was put to dead on my birth date.
3 Questions: How did the two men manage to create such a large bomb?
How could such a well thought out plan fail 90 minutes after the bombing?
Why is this not talked about as much as the other attacks in US history?
