terrorist attacks in Afghanistan. The Taliban’s strategy was to conduct attacks in one week which started in March 2014. The article Afghan Taliban reads, “This gave al-Qa’ida a base in which it could freely recruit, train and deploy terrorist to other countries”(Afg). On the other hand induvial terrorist such as the men who are accountable for the Boston marathon bombing used a different strategy. The Boston Marathon bombing was done by individuals that had nothing to do with terrorism organizations; they watched everything from the roof top of a building. The men put the bombs inside book bags and left them 50-100 feet apart. The bombs went off around 2:30pm and were about eight to twelve seconds apart; the bombs were close to the finish line. Both induvial terrorist and organizations prepare and conduct the attacks deviating from one another. Suicide bombings tend to kill or injure people; at times the terrorist conducting it is risking his own life knowing he might not make it out alive. ISIS posted on twitter claming full responsibility for a suicide bombing attack in Samawa. The terrorist got inside a car and blew it up killing and injuring people who happened to be around during the incident. Police came to the scene of the incident and another terrorist blew up his car and killed more people. ISIS said, “When Shiite security forces arrived at the bomb site, a second attacker blew up his car and killed more people”( Fantz Ashley and Merieme Arif). The city was filled up chaos and a mass of residents went to protest. The Prime Minister ordered that anyone involved in the bombings had to be arrested, anyone who disrupted any city property as well. ISIS took full responsibility on their actions and decided to inform the world about the incident. The strategy ISIS used was a twin car bomb that occurred within minutes apart. Suicide bombings are another strategy terrorism organizations have to kill a number of people. Terrorism in all matters is effective and usually causes more conflict. In most terrorism attacks, the attackers get what they desire. In conducting an attack the terrorists mostly cause more conflict between countries, cities, people, etc. The organizations and induvial terrorist at times do not get what they want. They usually plan an attack, conduct it and kill number of people; causing a lot of terror. David Schanzer and Charles Kurzman wrote,” Almost all of these arrests were for attempting to join a foreign terrorist organization abroad, not for planning attacks in the homeland”(Chapman). By arresting these people they did not accomplish what they needed to. The people arrested did not get to join a foreign organization like they would have wanted to. By being arrested they did not join the organization which was what they wanted to do; the police were doing their job and trying to avoid any terrorist attacks. Terrorist organizations most of the time get a good outcome of their attacks but at times the outcome is not what they expected. Domestic and international terrorism both are a threat to the human civilization, both put your life at risk.
Domestic terrorism is only within The US territorial, international terrorism is outside of the US. Both have different tactics, the Boston Marathon was being considered as domestic since the attackers were USA citizens and the incident did occur in the United States. 9/11 was also a domestic attack and also the biggest terrorism attack in the US. Chapman wrote,” When Comey arrived; nerves were raw from the Boston Marathon bombing, which sparked fears of a wave of domestic attacks” (Chapman). More domestic attacks begun when the Boston Marathon happened, it has the beginning of the domestic attacks. It started settling down with the attacks before they got worse. “It’s always interpret as the calm before the storm” (Chapman). Domestic and international attacks are both life
risking. The FBI has tried to end terrorism as a whole but has yet failed all their attempts. Terrorism is a never ending situation, the more attacks that happen the more serious the situation gets. Terrorism is the reason why the FBI has grown; the FBI’s budget has grown over the years. Chapman says, “When it comes to national security, they see every silver lining as attached not just to a cloud, but to a skyful of black thunderheads” (Chapman). Securities get threatened for their jobs, and the threats have just increased over the years. Terrorism is a never ending deal as Chapman said it in his The FBI Hypes Terrorism article. Everyone can try fighting against terrorism but it would be hard to put an end to it. Terrorist use anger as motivation to hurt someone, they have so much anger inside of them they are willing to make other people pay the consequences. They feel the need to hurt someone who has once hurt them. The people who plan the terrorist attacks want to disturb their enemies knowing they will cause disruption and they will gain something out of it. Clark R. McCauley writes, “Will turn the sympathetic but unmobilized to action and sacrifice, and will strengthen their own status at the apex of this pyramid” (McCauley). The Terrorist calculate the strategies being used in order to get a good outcome that benefits them as well. They use the motivation that they have to gain power and overpower their organizations. The anger they have inside of them is what gets them through all the chaos they cause. The different strategies terrorist have is using car bombs, suicide bombs just like the Boston Marathon, Domestic and International, using the anger they have to motivate them. Training and deploying terrorist all over the world is another tactic, moving up slowly to develop their plan, taking advantage during the rough times the country faces. Hoping that by helping out during an attack you’ll have more power. Terrorism is an issue we can fight against but cannot end.
