Greed and alcohol do not mix very well. The Old West can be a very a justified and revengeful place.The short story “Bargain” by A.B. Guthrie tells the story of a foreign man who owns his own store and needs a ruthless man named Slade to pay his bills and dies. Slade did not pay his bills so Mr. Baumer decided to teach him a lesson. Mr. Baumer is not responsible for the death of Slade. Because Slade had hurt and was mean toward Mr. Baumer for a long time, his death was an act of justice for Mr. Baumer.
